Join Us for a 24-Hour Marathon Charity Stream This Weekend

The Escapist Magazine will be hosting a 24-hour charity marathon stream, which will kick off this Friday, December 16.

We are happy to announce that The Escapist Magazine will be kicking off a 24-hour marathon stream this starting this Friday, December 16, for Extra Life [http://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.participant&participantID=245927] on a mission to raise money for The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

The festivities will kick off at 6:30pm ET with our regular weekly podcast at a not-so regular time, with the streaming marathon beginning at 8pm ET. From there, you can expect a caffeine-fueled hurricane of gaming shenanigans, complete with incentives, key giveaways, and special guests, including Trisha Hershberger, Elias Toufexis, and more, running through to Saturday at 8pm ET.

We'll be holding a game giveaway at $2,500 and $6,250 raised. Should we reach our initial goal of $5,000, you will unlock my personal favorite incentive: forcing our head stream guy John Markley to stream Rogue Warrior, in its entirety, on purpose. For charity!

At $7,500, John will also be forced to stream Aliens: Colonial Marines in its entirety, and at $10,000...well, I'll have to join him. At least it's for a good cause!

"We at The Escapist have supported charities since very early on, and this holiday season seemed like a good time to put on one of our own. It's an opportunity for us to leverage our own passion for games to share that passion with the kids that need it the most," says The Escapist Editor in Chief Joshua Vanderwall. "No, it's not just a good excuse to play games for 24 hours straight, why would you ask that?"

Anyone interested in helping out this great cause can do so Facebook page [http://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.participant&participantID=245927] via Facebook Live!

How does the sponsorship/charity thing work? Does more money get raised the longer you watch? Or is it based on how many different viewers watch? Or is it purely donations from public? I only ask as am currently so financially restricted that am hoping any involvement can otherwise still be of some contribution. :/
