The Original Six Mega Man Titles Are Coming to Android

Mega Man 1 through 6 will be available for $2 each in early January, 2017.

If the sting of Mighty No. 9 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/video-games/editorials/reviews/17123-Mighty-No-9-Review] is still too great for you to bear, Capcom may have something for you. The company has just announced that it is releasing the original six Mega Man titles for Android devices in January, for just two bucks a piece.

"This is the first time all six of the original 8-bit Mega Man games have been made available on smart devices, 29 years since Mega Man first exploded onto the console scene," wrote Capcom in a press release, adding that "Each game has been optimized for the mobile devices with adjustments to game speed."

Capcom has been pressing into the mobile space more and more these days, dipping its toes with the Ace Attorney [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/168874-Ace-Attorney-Apollo-Justice-Android-iOS-Release#&gid=gallery_6633&pid=1] series and now going full-on nostalgia with these Mega Man re-releases. The original titles were known for their brutal difficulty and tight controls, so it will be interesting to see how it translates to touch screen controls.

We don't have an exact release date right now, but you can sign-up [https://visitor.r20.constantcontact.com/manage/optin?v=00112YdK7-gri1-Wwp55G_9-9cXtm4PyVRCDEcqNPXdCvWo2CTk6Y6NbdKEPNM5hTpEnfTZD7CxCu7v-4FQvZOUeD-HQwaYpEUfcKRrHsC8JSeuU99EjGXXSh_CuW7toZ4gjPqNSRGhheL7I0DI5DbgGN3Mv6rGP_9AE9DCaYw6O6brhSv2eaPuERiTgIcQimUMupW3sfz43XeL3Iw5AdXN8hmbxIY4zn_7WH2cTGPhHqREtjcAaAzpJNRlntU1sGCcYRosdjhJiG4TsXDcWov_pu96ZOsfZzgSvdKxpCcOVOU%3D] on a pre-registration list to be informed exactly when the games will release.

Who knows, maybe Capcom will even start making Mega Man games again?

Erm... okay? While I love the Mega Man (X) franchise, this is not a series I'd like to play on my mobile. My reflexes are bad enough on all the other consoles you can get the ports for already.

On the other hand... maybe Capcom is testing the waters like Squeenix with Dragon Quest. Get this stuff for the revival of the franchise.

HOW MANY TIMES ARE THEY GONNA MAKE ME BUY MEGA MAN 2!?

I just got the Steam version, and've been playing this game for 27 years, occasionally hum the songs, have the Minibosses on two playlists, and was devastated when Powered Up 2 never came into existence.

Mega Man 2, I think we should break up...

That would have been sooooo amazing! I love the first one and would have bought every game of the line even if they ported the games 1:1 with the new graphic style.
