"We really are at the end of life for Wii U."

Speaking with Polygon [http://www.polygon.com/2017/1/19/14313914/legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild-last-nintendo-game-for-wii-u], Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed that there will be no new first-party titles developed for Nintendo's Wii U console after the release of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

"From a first-party standpoint, there's no new development coming after the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," Fils-Aime said. "We really are at the end of life for Wii U."

He did, however, state that there's no discussion of sunsetting online services, and games will still be sold at retail and on Nintendo's eShop.

"From our standpoint, sunsetting is quite some time into the future. The ongoing activity from an online standpoint on [Mario] Kart and Splatoon is significant. We're going to continue to support that."

Breath of the Wild will release on both the Wii U and upcoming Nintendo Switch on March 3. You can learn about some of the differences between the two versions here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/169306-Zelda-Breath-of-the-Wild-Switch-and-Wii-U-differences-explained#&gid=gallery_6815&pid=1].

Of course there's no discussion, this is Nintendo we're talking about, they'll just pull the plug one day without any warning.

Seems fair but I'll still keep it around since not only do I have a backlog of WiiU titles that I need to get back to but it also doubles as my replacement Wii and there's even more titles that I need to get back to on that.

didn't they do the same thing with the GameCube with Twilight Princess?
I'm quite grateful that TP made it in time to be ported to the CG or I would never have played it.

??

By CG you mean GC (Gamecube), right? You know it was always a Gamecube game and only a Wii game at the very end? The Wii version was the port.

In this case, Breath of the Wild is a Wii U game ported to the Switch. Apparently they took away putting your map and inventory on the Wii Gamepad, presumably since the Switch has only screen and we can't have the Wii U version looking superior.
