SWAT 4 Gold Edition Available DRM-Free on GOG.com

//cdn.themis-media.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/1377/1377888.jpgLong-lost PC title SWAT 4 is back, and it's available DRM-free on GOG.com.

If you've been looking to pick up a copy of Sierra's classic tactical shooter, SWAT 4, in the past few years, you've probably noticed that it almost can't be done. For a long time now, the only way to get a copy was to find one on eBay, or from a third-party seller on Amazon, and copies were fetching $100 or more. Yesterday, GOG.com announced that they had finally acquired the much-sought after title, and that it was available DRM-free.

SWAT 4 was originally released in 2005, and was developed by Irrational (yes, the developer that went on to make the Bioshock games). It was widely hailed as one of the best tactical shooters of all time, and continues to be highly regarded today. What set it apart was that it encourages players to be as non-violent as possible, rather than just having you shoot anything that moves.

The folks over at over on GOG [http://www.gog.com].

SWAT 4 will set you back $9.99 if you pick it up at GOG [https://www.gog.com/game/swat_4_gold_edition]. Since it's the Gold Edition, it will also include the expansion, SWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate. If you're into tactical shooters, it's definitely worth your time.

Extremely worth it since the retail disc of Stetchkov has Securom on it.

Now to run around a building screaming STOP POLICE at all and sundry...

Oh yeah, I remember this game...
Mainly for the infamous meme it made from Spoony's LP of it,

Hard it's hard as shit too.

I saw free and got excited. "On GoG" and "DRM free" are synonyms. I mean, its like saying "get something to eat" and "diarrhea" at Taco Bell.

Ahh, nothing quite like storming the house of a mother and son with 8 SWAT guys and pelting them with beanbags, paintballs and tasers all the while screaming 'GET ON THE GROUND'.

... Then trying to do a mission that's set for 8 people (or was it 6?) and promptly getting your ass handed to you. Good times, gonna have to pick this up.

Old news daddy-o. Already got it a few hours back and it's as glorious as ever. There's even some guides for unofficial patches to get the MP working again, cause gamespy.

damn, i still have the retail discs lying around.
should be worth getting again. since no games these days dont require the disc anymore to start it up, and im certainly lazy to insert the disc every time i want to play.
even better, you can get a bundle that has SWAT 3 included and is on special. over 12 USD. which is over 17 AUD for me. works for me.

Is this game really still relevant anymore though with the likes of Rainbow Six 3, Insurgency, and Arma?
