New Injustice 2 Trailer Shows Off Playable Catwoman, Cheetah, Black Canary, and Poison Ivy

Injustice 2's "Here Come the Girls" trailer reveals three new playable characters: Catwoman, Cheetah, and Poison Ivy, as well as a look at the previously announced Black Canary.

NetherRealm Studios has rolled out a new Injustice 2 trailer today. Titled "Here Come the Girls," it features Black Canary, who was previously shown off as playable, alongside three new playable characters for the upcoming fighting game: Catwoman, Cheetah, and Poison Ivy.


We had previously seen Poison Ivy in the game's story trailer [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/169285-Injustice-2-Story-Trailer], but today is the first confirmation that she would be playable as well.

There is too little gameplay to speak of in this trailer. And the cast choices are nothing to write home about.(Although, Cheeta is a unsual one since I doubt most non-DC fans even know WTF she is)

All that's left is the very odd faces, which the trailer makes a point in showing. And it's uncanny valley central down there.

Sorry to bust your judgemental bubble there, but I didn't even mention their (sexual) attractiveness. I know it's hard to believe, but one can criticize the design of a female character without it being tied to how hot they are or are not.

I don't think it is about whether or not the characters are attractive. It's more of a "they don't look sensible". A lot of the models in the Injustice gaming franchise have traditionally looked just "off". Maybe it's a scaling issue to make the grab and hit boxes for all of the characters more consistent. Maybe it's just a lighting issue. But the characters (both male and female) tend to just look odd.

The close-up of Canary looks good. The close-up of Cheetah actually looks pretty good. But, everything else looks a bit "wooden". That outfit for Ivy looks ridiculous. I don't want to see a nude character model with a leaf texture applied over her front. That seems lazy and out of character. But whatever. I'll wait and see how the final game shakes out.

Cheetah, huh? Well, why not. I guess another speed slasher is a good choice. I might have liked to see Big Barda or maybe Star Girl. Or go with a magical villainess--Enchantress or Circe. Maybe Killer Frost. I don't think you can work Giganta in there due to game constraints. Whatever. These guys made a pretty good game the first time around. I imagine they'll do it again.

The whole uncanny valley is simply because their faces are actually TOO realistic... shouldn't it be a praise to the developers?

But while I'm defending how they look, I actually hate the cast choices.
This is the most boring roster ever. It actively manages to pull me off from buying the game.

I really hope this was sarcastic, but anyway.

1) They aren't real women
2) It's as much a comment on the art style of the models themselves
3) We have no information on the gameplay, it's a character reveal trailer.
4) I don't particularly care about the roster and it's hard to complain until you've seen the whole list so you know what is excluded. I would actually applaud them for using lesser known characters.

Ok, all the examples you posted seem fine to me. But I don't see the difference between the other ones and the Injustice one.

@Nature Guardian: I probably wasn't going to play this anyway. I'm not into fighting games. But there's not much gameplay to discuss. I'd most likely have to play it to judge the mechanics.

This isn't about sex. I would criticize bad looking male character designs too. I don't like their outfits. Some of the faces are weird too.

Maybe I should actually go and make a thread about it, but can we actually discuss about how underwhelming the roster is?

Why putting Cheetah AND Catwoman; Superman AND Supergirl; Swamp Thing AND Poison Ivy?

The cast is boring enough without occupying half of it with the same base concept idea repeated on another character.

This actually annoys me greatly because I AM someone who's quite into fighting games. But this roster is too boring....

HOWEVER...that has nothing to do with the MK folks sucking at female character design.
If ANYTHING your post is kind of ironic...given that the MK studio and games have been NOTORIOUSLY shitty in their treatment to their female characters.

2) AESTHETICS MATTER. Why is it 'sexist', which is what you're implying, to point out that Netherealm (SP?) Studios can't make FEMININE females and only seem to be able to add boobs to their male models?
YET...it's not sexist for NRS to treat their female fighters as an after thought...something that's needed because...boobs giggle lol?

3) The game play is the same as the last game...right? So what's there to talk about?
How the finishing moves look? It's the MK guys...all their games are pretty much the same with a few minor (okay, SOMETIMES major) tweaks to the game play.

*Ivy is a given, seeing as how they have Swamp Thing. They need a female version of The Green worshiper.
-But, again...why not use a design from the VERY POPULAR Batman games? Hopefully get the movie version as a skin.
