Bad Boys 3 Needs a New Director (Report) - Updated

Whatcha gonna do when they don't trust you?

One of the more interesting sequels that has been in the planning stages for a while has been Bad Boys 3, which is supposedly going to be titled Bad Boys for Life, because the studio apparently doesn't want to save that title for a potential fourth installment for some reason ("Bad Boys 4 Life").

One of the main reasons that it was intriguing was because of the director who was attached: The Hollywood Reporter is now reporting [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/joe+carnahan] that Carnahan has dropped out of the project.

Carnahan has reportedly departed for one of two reasons, depending on the source asked: a scheduling conflict or creative differences. The latter of those two is more concerning to prospective audiences, as it usually means the studio wouldn't allow the director to do what he or she wanted - which means the movie is likely to turn out safer and blander.

If you're unfamiliar, Carnahan previously directed the latest person to take a crack at the Uncharted movie's screenplay [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smokin'_Aces].

Bad Boys for Life is currently scheduled for a November 8, 2018 release date, which means a new director needs to be found soon. Carnahan also worked on the most recent draft of the script, which means that, if a "creative differences" were the main reasons for Carnahan's departure, chances are a script rewrite with a different writer is likely to occur as well. Both Martin Lawrence [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/will+smith] are scheduled to reprise their roles.

Of course, the studio could always relent and give Carnahan the control he wanted, much like Warner Bros. did with Matt Reeves [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/169632-Matt-Reeves-is-Set-to-Direct-The-Batman].

Update: Carnahan has responded to the report on Twitter:

<tweet t=https://twitter.com/carnojoe/status/839335760713035777>

So, there you have it. According to him, it's just a scheduling conflict. He and Frank Grillo [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/frank+grillo] are working on their production company, WarParty.

After seeing how over bloated Bad Boys 2 was, do we need a 3? Outside of some cool action scenes 2, I found it boring after repeated watchings. The villain was your cliche 80s drug cartel crook, the plot was almost nonexistent even by action movie standards, and there were so many scenes you could cut out for timing. At least the first had a threatening villain and didn't waste your time on too much filler scenes.

Bad Boys 3 doesn't need a new director, it needs to not happen.

Then again I tend to say that about a lot of sequels/remakes/movies in general. So yeah, take my opinion with all the grains of salt you want. :p

In other news: Zack Snyder is still the director for Justice League. Why can't he get booted due to a "scheduling conflict" or "creative differences"?.....or how about "he has no fucking clue as to how to make a good DC movie"?

He knows how to schmooze the WB execs (They like their coke uncut, and their prostitutes spicy).

I with you. The sequel was stupid padded with action (felt like it had a action checklist). I mean seriously the last 30 minutes DID NOT need to be in when they reaid the villain mansion!
The first one was a classic!

Except for Jon Berg, who like his coke spicy and his prostitutes uncut. What a weirdo.

Also, they're doing Bad Boys 3? Ok then.

Also, there are already 4 Uncharted movies. I'll leave figuring out whether I mean the games or something else to you all.

My brother's mentally handicapped Beagle is a better director than Michael Bay.
