A Serbian Film - Notoriously Disgusting

Not that I mind or care too much (it's your column after all) but why was this one reviewed? I know you've done Classics before but it usually had context that explained it (like Ghostbusters when Lady Ghostbusters came out).

I like the totally pointless pictures there, because anything relevant...no.

I know people who have watched and enjoyed all the 'endurance' films and their opinion of the A Serbian Film is always the same "I wish I could forget ever watching it" which says all I need to know.
It wants to be so edgy and shocking it goes overboard, and managed to achieve the opposite effect for me.
I used to watch these kind of movies with buddies, so my brain bleach threshold starts at Takashi Miike flicks.

Some of Miike's and Park Chan Wook's Vengeance Trillogy has plausable elements to make it more gut-wrenching in my opinion. A Serbian Film went past that.
Anytime people tell me that they're badass hardcore horror movie fans, I ask them if they've seen "Salo or 120 Days of Sodom", "Martyrs" or "A Serbian Film." Just to more accurately gauge their level of "stamina".
I haven't watched any of them end to end and I don't plan to (turned off Salo rather quickly). However, knowledge of their existence makes me better able to watch other, lesser disturbing media, like "regular" horror or a Game of Thrones.

I remember I got really bored with the film; it started to revel in it's own ludicrousness and shock that there wasn't anything really pushing me forward anymore. Gore and other shock value isn't engaging when I know you're just going to keep pushing extremes.
Don't fucking throw out plot just so we can have more genital mutilation. Also your twist ending could be seen a mile away considering you beat us over the head with foreshadowing.

It's a bit weird that someone decided now would be a neat time to post a review for this movie. I guess it's never too late to be horrified by this kind of stuff.

I'm kind of curious, but also don't want to be mentally scarred for the rest of my life, so could you describe the scene, but be really vague and sugarcoat all of the unpleasant words so as to make it more palatable.LegendaryGamer0 said:

The reveal is that I believe the friend is fucking the wife of the main character or somesuch, and the MC is literally fucking his probably ten year old or younger son in the ass.

mostly because you miss out on the actors, which if Marter is to be believed, would have made a 4chan style gross out scene actually horrifying to watch
and I'm sure the vfx for the brains blowing out would have been incredibly gory and likely resulted in more mutilation than would have really happened for the sake of the horror
Oh, I have no doubt it's extremely horrible to watch and would give me nightmares for a year, but with all of Marter's secrecy I was expecting like, stuff worse than I could even imagine. Like:Death Carr said:

My imagination can actually make the scene far more horrible than it is in the actual movie.
For example, you can technically film a "raping a kid" scene while managing to NOT make it horrible.
Which is why I am curious about this film. I've read the synopsis. But I wonder if my mind was better at imagining that as horrifying than what the actual movie did.
I watch shocker movies on a regular basis, but so far I've never found a movie that was so horrible that I couldn't endure it till the end.
I'm getting more and more curious about this movie, even tho I generally like my gorefest shockparty movies to ALSO have a meaning and this movie doesn't seem to have any meaning besides "can you endure it?".
