Tesla Sings For Doctor Who

No, this isn't some deeply weird slash fiction, instead it is a the theme song from Doctor Who performed on Tesla Coils.

The familiar theme was performed by the band/mad scientist cabal ArcAttack [http://www.arcattack.com/] at Chattacon 34 in Chattanooga, Tennessee earlier this year, utilizing a unique set up of their own creation.

I'm not going to pretend that I completely understand the science behind it, but the creators have very kindly tried to explain in on their website:

ArcAttack employs a unique DJ set up of their own creation (an HVDJ set up) to generate an 'electrifying' audio visual performance. The HVDJ pumps music through a PA System while two specially designed DRSSTC's (Dual-Resonant Solid State Tesla Coils) act as separate synchronized instruments.

These high tech machines produce an electrical arc similar to a continuous lightning bolt which put out a crisply distorted square wave sound reminiscent of the early days of synthesizers. The music consists of original highly dance-able electronic compositions that sometimes incorporates themes or dub of popular songs.
Yeah, what they said...

Wow. This is as close to love as I'm ever going to feel for that show. That is rather awesome.

I must say that this is incredibly awesome. I've always been a fan of telsa coils (I blame growing up on Soviet Campaign in Command and Conquer: Red Alert), and using them for such highly educational functions as as music and Dr. Who is something that I quite thoroughly approve of.

Although I'm now fearing there's an escapist out there plotting to make a Telsa/Dr. Who slash fan fiction, if only because of your opening line. I am both confusingly awed and deeply scared by this conclusion.

I neither confirm nor deny.

I absolutely loved it, and I'm sure the Doctor would too.

David Bowie would be proud (try to guess the reference here).

This, too was awesome. I say "too," because of this link.

Zelda on a Tesla Coils, IMHO, beats Dr. Who on Tesla Coils.

At first I thought it was going to be that band Tesla playing a Doctor Who song or something, but this definitely beats shitty hair metal.

I bet if Tesla were alive today, he'd say, "Stop making music with my invention! Aren't there lunar death-rays to build? Sheesh, you people."

Of course, Tesla was a great inventor but not the greatest guy in the world, so I guess what he thinks about some things doesn't matter.

To echo others here, this video could only be closer to perfection with the addition of Mr. T.

the only thing to make it cooler would be if it was the original theme not the newfangled one from the newer series

as for Telsa himself, i think he would have liked it, he was a bit of an odd sort really
