Tokyo Game Show Attendance Announced

As TGS rolls to a close, Japan's Computer Entertainment Suppliers Association announced today that more than 190,000 people attended the show, more than tripling E3 2006's attendance.

While E3 has traditionally received the bulk of the attention in North America, its industry-only attendance policies actually put it third worldwide in terms of attendance with roughly 60,000 attendees in 2006, down from 70,000 in 2005. With open-to-the-public policies, both the Tokyo Game Show and the Leipzig Games Convention are far larger events in terms of attendance.

The Leipzig Games Convention announced in August that it had enjoyed an attendance of roughly 183,000, and the numbers announced today for TGS make it the largest games convention worldwide.
