Commodore to Launch New PC

Commodore Gaming announced that they will be launching a new gaming PC at the CeBIT Show on March 15, 2007 in Hannover Germany.

The CEO of Commodore Gaming, Bala Keilman, said that 25 years ago, Commodore made the best selling PC of the time, the Commodore 64, and that Commodore is ready to enter back into the gaming community and deliver a PC that gamers need and want.

Commodore Games will be making further announcements at the CeBIT show, and revealing more details of their new gaming PC.

I'm very skeptical of the success of this PC gaming venture... namely because it's entering into a dominated marketplace with, arguably, a shrinking audience as players migrate to consoles and handhelds. I'd be more impressed if Commodore was going to build a new handheld system that takes advantage of homebrew PC game development, like Microsoft's XNA suite for PC and 360. The GP32x is a neat system but has a few flaws. Who wouldn't want to take homebrew gaming on the road? It would be a gaming revolution!

If I ran the zoo... ;-)

Oh, and long live the VIC 20!
