Fox Says Hitman Movie Still Rated R

Fox Studios [http://www.foxstudios.com/]has responded to a report that it is curtailing the violence in the upcoming Hitman movie in an effort to secure a friendlier rating.

The initial report from movie site Live Free or Die Hard [http://twitchfilm.net/site/view/fox-yanks-hit-man-from-director-xavier-gens/], on which he served as an editor.

The report was covered widely by both movie and gaming sites, leading Fox to respond [http://twitchfilm.net/site/search/results/2839e4506df3571627cff5ba9e7bfa8f/]today by saying that De Toth was brought in as a consultant, not an editor. Furthermore, Gens is still working on the movie, and the studio says it will be released with an R rating, presumably with the violent content intact.

Hitman [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465494/], based on the popular Eidos games featuring the adventures of the mysterious super-assassin Agent 47, his theaters on November 21.

I've never played a hitman game, but I must say that the trailer for this movie has me cautiously optimistic. At least as much as I can be for a game movie.

I tried the original Hitman, and didn't care for it. PC games with limited saves are very nearly intolerable, and need to be damn near perfect in every other way to make up for it - and Hitman wasn't. I loved the concept, wanted to like the game, just couldn't do it.

I did end up purchasing a copy of one of the sequels from EB a couple years back because it was bundled with The Claw, a goofball FPS control device that I thought would be kind of a cool addition to the collection of Game Stuff. Kept the game around until the next time I went to EB, then traded it in on something else. I think they gave me about two bucks for it.
