Target Pulls Manhunt 2 From Shelves

Major U.S. retailer Manhunt 2 [http://www.target.com]from the shelves in response to the ongoing negative publicity swirling around the game.

According to a report at Take Two [http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38911], the game's publisher, has apparently agreed to take back unopened copies of the game.

The move comes not as a result of the game's violence, the sources say, but because of the continuing uproar over the game's extremely violent content. Initially recent hack [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/op-ed/796-Rockstar-The-House-AO-Built]of the game, which in conjunction with a modified PSP could result in the restoration of some of the removed violent content, has only fed the furor.

Despite no longer offering the game in stores, Manhunt 2 is still available for order [http://www.target.com/Manhunt-2-for-PlayStation-Portable/dp/B000NIJ35C/sr=1-1/qid=1194056421/ref=sr_1_1/602-8710282-4500642?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3Amanhunt%202&page=1] at Target.com. Immediately following the withdrawal of the game, the company's website was modified to state that the game "is not available in stores."

OK, you know what? I don't even care anymore. The game's not exactly game of the year.

Target first, who's next?

So globally, as far as Target is concerned, this M rated game is sold as an AO game: online, through the confortable anonymity of internet.
