EA Announces Spore Galactic Edition

Maxis [http://www.ea.com] have announced the Spore Galactic Edition, a limited-release version of the game that will feature a hardcover art book, a 100-page Galactic Handbook and more.

The Galactic Edition of Spore [http://www.spore.com] will carry an MSRP of $79.99 in North America, compared to $49.99 for the standard edition. The game will give players the opportunity to create and evolve their own unique life forms, growing them from primitive tribes to space-faring civilizations reaching out into a universe filled with equally-unique beings created by other players.

"The Spore Galactic Edition is the ultimate backstage pass for the Spore universe," said Maxis Vice President of Marketing Patrick Buechner. "The Spore Galactic Edition is an incredible collection of art, video and behind-the-scenes access to the development team for fans, along with some of the coolest, most collectible packaging in years."

Along with the art book and Galactic handbook, the collector's box set will include a Making of Spore DVD, a DVD of the How To Build a Better Being show from the National Geographic Channel [http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/] and a fold-out Spore poster. Both versions of the game are set for release on September 5 in Europe, and September 7 in North America and Asia. How To Build a Better Being, which explores the science behind the game, will premiere on the National Geographic Channel on September 9.

While you're waiting, you may as well download a free demo version of the here [http://www.spore.com/getSpore/index#ccgetspore].)

Seems like they want us to pay a lot more for not a lot more.....
Yup, a nice plushie or even a cap would be pretty good too. Hmm...didn't they have like a digital fabricator to make plastic versions of some creatures?

Actually...they could expand the creatures that people make into an entire line of action figurines, or miniatures etc. They'd be rich!

Why can't they just release the damn thing - surely it must be ready by now? All this hype is killing me, heh, I just wanna play it - more than the nice but limited Creature Creator.
