Fable 2 Will Have Online Co-op Gameplay After All
It looks like Peter Molyneux can't even deliver on a promise when he promises that he won't deliver on a promise: Fable 2 [http://www.lionhead.com/fable2/] is going to ship with functional online cooperative play after all.
In a post on the Fable 2 dev blog, "Sam," the Lionhead Community Manager, Xbox Live [http://community.lionhead.com/blogs/fable_2_development/archive/2008/10/09/3107261.aspx], when starting up your copy of Fable 2 (on 21st October in USA, 24th October in Europe and 18th December in Japan). So all of you getting upset and all, you wouldn't even have noticed... Sort of. Well done to the team."
Of course, that statement refers to the Lionhead [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/86696-Peter-Molyneux-Asks-Reviewers-To-Ask-Around] boss and Fable 2 Lead Designer Peter Molyneux had warned reviewers that the game wouldn't actually ship with online cooperative gameplay enabled, and asked that reviews be delayed until it could be implemented because of its importance to the game. Looks like that won't be an issue anymore.
So yes, well done, chaps. Good work on shipping the game intact, rather than shoving it out the door with a major part of the gameplay experience intact.
