PlayStation Home Enters Open Beta December 11

As close to an official launch as we're ever going to get, Sony's oft-delayed online virtual world finally opens its doors.

As announced [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/87956-Home-Coming-In-The-Next-10-Days] today that come tomorrow, December 11, its online virtual sausage-fest will be available for one and all to download and stand around in.

Over at the official PlayStation blog, Home director Jack Buser said, "This milestone represents the very beginning of a long journey together, as PlayStation Home is an ever evolving, always changing, organic experience - full of new friends to meet, new events to enjoy, and new content to explore." One of those new pieces of content added since the beta is a brand-new central plaza that houses a four player mini-game called Saucer Pop, that has players launching flying saucers and taking off after a series of bubbles for points.

In this web 2.0 world that we live in, PlayStation Home can remain in open beta status from December 11 until the day the Sun explodes, but Sony is urging participants to look forward to a variety of new content from such publishing partners and brands as Activision, Electronic Arts, Disney and of course, its recently announced partnership with Red Bull [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/87835-Red-Bull-Becomes-First-Home-Sponsor].

Now that we're finally on Home's doorstep, do you plan on downloading it? If so, what kind of experience [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3d_fqDcN1s&fmt=18] do you expect from PlayStation Home and do you intend on making your stay a lengthy one?

Was someone fiddling about with time when this article was posted? It was posted on the 11th, yet December 10th is refered to as tomorrow.... How odd.
Also, I was only recently playing around on my PS3 and I found no Home anywhere around the PStore..... So do you mean actual tomorrow, December 12th?

Huh? It's just going to magically appear there?
Anyways, that's not my point, my point is that yesterday was the 10th December and there was no Home to be found anywhere on my PS3.

Why is it that when one console company comes up with a good idea everyone else has to copy it? I find it rediculous that they don't seem to have original ideas anymore. Well as long as they don't screw it up it should be fine... I hope...

Who did they copy other than second life?
