Street Fighter IV Arcade Sticks and Pads Announced at Last

No more excuses as Mad Catz and Capcom officially announce their line of licensed Street Fighter gear after months of pre-order frenzies.

If you're serious about your virtual fisticuffs like I am, the February release of Capcom's Hori EX2 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/tag/street+fighter+iv] and risk it all in one of the most daring hardware mods one can attempt. Trust me, for I have walked through the valley of the shadow of death.

All of that shall be a thing of the past as Capcom and Mad Catz have officially Blanka [http://www.capcom-unity.com/snow_infernus/blog/2009/01/07/mad_catz_announces_street_fighter_iv_fightsticks_fightpads_and_collectible_accessories] emblazoned across a Sega Saturn inspired controller for the price of $39.99.

Of course, if you're serious, you'll want to step up to flavor country and get yourself a stick. At $79.99 is the Tournament Edition stick [http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Fighter-IV-FightStick/dp/B001M22VCU/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1231380442&sr=8-7] at $149.99. With a design by Capcom taken from community all-stars and official Sanwa parts, the Tournament Edition stick is probably the nicest arcade controller you will ever play on in your life.

All of these fine accessories have been available for pre-order for quite sometime now and those entrenched in the California Street Fighter community have already given their enthusiastic approvals.

Ew, Mad Catz?
Why must you make me regret my deciding against a disclaimer.

Mad Catz is manufacturing the sticks and pads. They're great at that and have absolutely no say on the technical design, though they sure wish they did (Sanwa parts in a consumer stick is insane. Lucky them, its extremely limited edition). Everything I've seen and heard from extremely reputable friends of mine is that these are the real deal.

As a disclosure, I'm putting my money where my mouth is. I have one on order myself. This is how much I trust my sources on this issue.

I was just told about this today at a store, was thinking about getting a third party controller but now that these are coming out, I might get them.
I think it would be pretty sweet and will bring the feel of the arcades back.

This alone has restored my faith in game companies still caring about the consumer. Great post and made my day that I'll finally be able to play fighters and 360 arcade games with a joystick and arcade-style buttons.
