An Old-Fashioned Halo Wedding

A pair of die-hard Halo [http://www.halo3.com] fans who met through the game have been declared "Teammates for Life" in a Halo-themed wedding that was officiated by none other than Master Chief Petty Officer John-117.

The lead-up to the wedding between Desirai "SickNdehed" Labrada and John "psychovandal" Henry was documented at "MTV Multiplayer [http://amatchmadeinhalo.com/] has also been tracking the event, and Stephen Totilo traveled to the Otronicon science and gaming convention, where the wedding took place, to snap some pictures and shoot some video.

The bride entered to the Halo 3 theme with the Halo logo on her dress sleeves, while the groom wore a Halo-emblazoned tie. The ceremony took place in front of a recreation of the "Ivory Tower" Halo map, and was performed by the Master Chief himself, who declared the pair "teammates for life." earlier [http://www.microsoft.com] this month, donating a gift box full of Halo stuff, and even the wedding favors were shaped to look like plasma grenades.

Theme weddings can be fun, but I'm not sure I'd have the nerve to go through with one myself. I don't know if I have the depth of commitment to any of my nerdish hobbies to expose them, and myself, so completely to the world at large. On top of that, I can't imagine my girlfriend ever agreeing to it; I have enough trouble getting her to dress up like Xana [http://darkmessiahmightandmagic.us.ubi.com/agegate.php?destURL=index.php] in private.

Videos of the wedding will be posted January 26, but in the meantime you can get a preview of the event, and catch a glimpse of special guest Mr. Destructoid, via YouTube [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKPuLKsV_ZI].

Whenever I wonder if there are no more ways nerds can make me laugh with their nerdiness; something comes along on youtube.

Also; misread Xana for Xena n suddenly had a rush of spotty-teenage-hormonal-memories come flooding back :-D

Facepalms all round....Why didn't they just hit each other? it would be a less dreadful start to a Nerd Commitment

why can't you people just be happy for them?

Actually, entertainment themed weddings are pretty painful, nevermind.

Good for them... if that's what they want, and they're happy with it, I'm happy for them. It will be interesting to see them explain this to their children... or friends and family, for that matter.

That's one of the geekier things I've ever heard of, but hey. People are getting married. That's awesome.

Plus, you referenced Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, so you get extra points.

I think it has to be a die hard passion for both of them to work.
I know I wouldn't want to look back at 80 with this being my fondest memory.

Wow, I don't think most wives would go along with this, but they must really be in love ^^"

I saw that Arby 'n' The Chief episode, it was pretty good.

But really, it's whatever makes them happy.

Well, whatever works for you I guess. still, theres probably something wrong with someone who takes their love of games to this extent...

Just imagine...30 years later they'll share their wedding album and realize how geeky they were.

But this is pretty cool.
