iPhone King of the Mobile Gaming Mountain

A report by comScore reveals that of all mobile game downloads made in November, 14 percent were done on Apple's iPhone.

There's absolutely no question that when it comes to mobile phone gaming, Apple's device is currently the cream of the crop. From its high-quality content, ease of development and the power of Apple's advertising dollars behind it, nothing quite compares to the "Jesus Phone." In a report filed late last week by the prominent market research company, Rolando [http://www.comscore.com/press/release.asp?press=2711][/I], if you know what I mean.

Not only is the iPhone trouncing its competition (most of which comes from the Blackberry Curve and other smartphones), but it also seems to be decimating the average attach rate of games to cell phones. The industry average for a phone with gaming capabilities to be used to download games is only 3.8 percent, yet 32.4 percent of iPhone users report having downloaded a game within the month of November. This could very well mean free trials of games or paid purchases, as the report isn't specific, but getting that many folks to try out a game on their cell phone is an impressive feat all its own.

With so many of its users excited about iPhone gaming, its no wonder why its games make such headlines, even for something as simple as an update [http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2009/02/02/fieldrunners-update-arrives/] to Fieldrunners. It seems as though the whole "iPhone as a gaming platform" talk gets less and less crazy sounding by the day.

Hey, I'll be happy to call the I-Phone a great scene for independent and artistic gaming just as soon as it ceases to be one of the most expensive platforms on the market.

And they have one that gets Verizon.

i have an iPod Touch, and yeah, the iPhone/iPod Touch is more a venue for fresh, innovative gameplay.

I think the reason so many people with iPhones are downloading games is because they need a reason to justify their ridiculously expensive purchase. I kid, of course, but I wouldn't be too shocked if I wasn't far off.

God. I'd object, but it seems that people these days have gotten into a state where I lose hope in them.

I owned an iPod Touch, and as a gaming platform, it's horrible.
The accelerometer won't be fun for a long time, and using the touch-screen for in-game usage may seem as very innovative and fresh to many of you, but I think it sucks.

I bought a Nintendo DS instead, and besides the internet browser, and movies, the DS is much, much better.

But Apple iPhone only had 14 percent, what did the PSP and DS have?

EDIT: Oh. It's cell-phone gaming. Then I don't care. The iPhone can even have 100%, if it wants.

Aye when it comes to portable gaming, a handheld will always overpower a phone in both game quality and game sales.
