Capcom Confirms Dead Rising 2

The zombie cat's out of the box: The sequel to Dead Rising is in development for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, Capcom announced today.

Set several years after the events of the first game [http://www.capcom.com/deadrising/], Dead Rising 2 shifts the setting for its zombie uprising from a mall to another mecca for material lust and non-stop consumption: a casino in the fictional "gambling paradise of Fortune City." The virus that broke out in the first game unfortunately wasn't contained, and has migrated all over the U.S., including to Fortune City where it's infected thousands upon thousands of cocktail waitresses and showgirls, turning them into scantily clad, brain-hungry trailer park residents. Caught up in it all isn't Frank West, the hero of the first Dead Rising, but a young blond chap who presumably races motorcycles or at least really likes motorcycles, based on his yellow racing jacket and "rebel without a cause" facial expressions.

Gameplay details are scarce (no word on whether the controversial save and restart systems will return), but the gist of it seems to be more of the same zombie killing, except with more weapons and more zombies, who will come in the "tens of thousands" Capcom claims. In the screenshots alone we see the main character armed with a guitar, an axe, a gigantic fake cell phone, a roulette table and riding a dirt bike through a crowd of zombies in the middle of what looks like the Bellagio. The first Dead Rising had a plausible excuse for housing every weapon from samurai swords to lawnmowers: it took place in a mall that sold everything. Now that it's in a casino, I'm guessing things are going to are going to get even crazier. You can buy a lot of weird stuff in Vegas.

Dead Rising 2 isn't being developed internally at Capcom, but rather in partnership with Canadian developer Keiji Inafune [http://www.bluecastlegames.com/#pageId,1], who will oversee the game as a producer.

One thing's for sure, this game will be cool. I hope they removed the damn save system, and that crap story mission idea thingy. Like seriously, I'm busy kicking the living crap outta zombies I can't be arsed to go to another part of the mall at a set time just 'cause of a darn story Mission.

I just hope they improved the aiming system for ranged weapons.
Yeah, it was pretty horrendous. Some multiplayer/co-op would be nice. So would a world editor, but those are just wishful thinking. I'm just happy it exists.

I love you Keane Ng. I love so, so much. I may faint from happiness. I loved Dead Rising. And now there's a sequel in the works? One of the must buy games.

im just hoping i can rip a pull lever off a machine an gore the zombie with it (having coins spurt outta would be kinda unprobible but amusing to say the least) and have playing cards with blades on them for a throw weapon for ever so gruesomly fun decapitations or have the guy get up on a lounge and sing to the zombies and because the hero has such a horrible voice they kill themselfs ... or use the mic as a flail type weapon and have a funny thump sound emit from the pa when contact is made also amplifying the zombie's grrr or arrrrg... or even hucking a zombie outta penthouse floor of a hotel and having a chace cam follow his drop to the ground potentially making a weapon outta the zombie depending on weather he falls on a group of zombies or just pavement.. (posible side game zombie darts) anyway i'm thinking a little to far into this so i'll just stop .. for now

I never owned it, but I would like the FONT SIZE (why?) to be a bit bigger next time around. I've seen videos with text that is just unreadable.

They better open the forms and start taking requests, dead rsing was good but it could be improved. As is, it looks good, though it's going to be interesting if they do that annoying time limit thing.

Oh my God, co-op would make my fucking year. Although, I enjoyed dead rising so much I am probably going to end up buying it no matter what.

Zombie wars that is.

I'm sure they'll talk about Frank...or maybe he even makes a cameo. That would be pretty cool =D

SPLEEE!

Dead Rising 2 looks to bring more pointless zombie fun times to everyone!

Though I'm worried as to how the developers now working on it will take it, their track record doesn't seem to cover games like these.
