A (Slightly) Closer Look At The Pitt

A few early details about The Pitt, the second piece of Bethesda's DLC triumvirate for Official Xbox Magazine [http://fallout.bethsoft.com].

The Pitt will include a large "dungeon," an abandoned steel yard and a settlement divided into two halves, one occupied by slaves and the other by their masters. Raiders will feature prominently and players in The Pitt will be able to actually interact with them as opposed to just shooting them in the face. The magazine describes the new setting as a "stunning dystopia that's unlike any other area in Fallout 3's world."

Numerous side quests and unique items will be available in the expansion, including the "Auto Axe," which Operation: Anchorage [http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=208264] will find much greater satisfation in The Pitt, saying, "This is Fallout 3 as you know and love it."

Sadly for fans champing at the bit, the release of new details isn't going to hasten the release of the actual expansion: The Pitt still won't be out until March [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/89296-Fallout-3-DLC-Delayed].

I wonder if you will actually be able to bring some of that raider interaction back with you to the capital wasteland?

Perhaps something similar to the Animal friend perk. A Raider boss perk? Take it twice and raiders will come to your aid.

That sounds pretty sweet... I saw a screen-shot of this item and was curious for more details, thanks Malygris! Fallout 3 has some of the most inventive weapons I've seen in any game for a while; a trend that I hope Bethesda continues....

I know they said Auto Axe, but I hear "chainsword" and that makes me happy.

Unless by hedge trimmer they meant a weed whacker, but...i doubt it. Point is, I'm psyched.

EDIT: Saw what it looked like finally. Not what I envisioned but still pretty badass...sorta like a giant motorized pizza cutter from Hell.

Awesome. I was wondering about The Pitt - it didn't sound too impressive at first, but it's shaping up to be really cool.

For some reason when I saw the thread title it made me think of the University of New Mexico's basketball stadium, which is also called "The Pit"

i agree with this

or have 3 perks for it, the third letting you set up a camp of raiders somewhere, which would probably be a selection of a few place's, but it would be cool none the less

I think this will be an amazing add-on.

Operation Anchorage was good for what it was, and I have faith the Bethsoft won't mess up this awesome DLC stuff.

I'm bummed out about owning a PS3 for the first time since I bought it...
I know.
I'll probably get a 360 towards the end of the year so I can get stuff like this.
Still, we have to just get used to Microsoft outpaying Sony for cool shit like this.
