Freaky F.E.A.R. Contest Amps Up The Ickiness

Eight intrepid gamers recently went head to head in a F.E.A.R. 2 [http://www.whatisfear.com/] competition with a twist: Playing the game while their hands were covered with bugs, rats, snakes and other disgusting creepy-crawlies.

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is a pretty spooky game in its own right, but what better way to turn up the tension than by having a critter-filled contest in a gloomy "haunted mansion" in London? Eight players brave enough to take part squared off two at a time with the Xbox 360 [http://www.xbox.com] version of the game, but to make things interesting they had to play with their hands inside a closed box. Once the game began, players found their hands accosted by rats, lobsters, bugs, worms, snakes and other shudder-inducing grotesqueries.

But that's not all. When it was all over, the "winner" had to make his way through the dark, dirty basement of the mansion, where he came face to face with mysteriously moving objects and even a real-life Alma. The prize for putting up with all this? A new Xbox 360 and a 42" television. The rest of us have to settle for watching grown men squeal like schoolgirls.

Aside from the horror of having to play an FPS with a controller, I'm pretty sure I'd be able to handle things right up to the arrival of the lobster. I have a thing about crustaceans. Think you could do better?

I think I would soil my pants.

Perhaps multiple times.

More than the "critters on hands" part of it, I think crawling through the dark to get an Alma look-a-like in my face would do it for me.

There's always the chance it could backfire and the winner pulls a gun to try and kill the real-life Alma.

Wow....I think I would have been eliminated in the deathmatch, but the Alma part would scare me shitless.

Same here, except I think I could get through the basement

I would be able to get through the basement, I was just saying when I opened the door, I would be like "Goddamnmotherfuckingsonofabitch" in my head. And not move. Unless she started moving towards me, then I might run.

Next thing they'll do is a real life sort of paintball house of horros with fear things. I would go there and make my way thought the different things just for the fun of it. No horror movie in the world would be able to top that experience.

Do they not get a copy of the game with the Xbox and TV? that sucks
They probably don't want to play the game ever again after all that.

Though I'm a bit curious as to how they squared off, it looks like they're both playing the campaign instead of versus mode (adult Alma on the red screen).

Same here, anything apart from crabs/lobsters and I'm fine. Soon as I see one of those I'm running like a schoolgirl.

The only thing is, all of the contestants probably have 360's already... so what's this? A backup in case it RRODs?

This part would scare the crap out of me. If I knew that there was an Alma look-a-like in the dark waiting to scare me, it would be hard to move throught that basement.
