Man Makes Original Album From YouTube Musicians

An aspiring mix artist has released an album of songs comprised entirely of music taken from YouTube clips - and it's surprisingly awesome.

Let's put another mark in the "Hooray Web 2.0" column for this one. One of the more popular uses for YouTube is as a vehicle for aspiring musicians to get their name out and show their talent off to the countless crowd on the Internet (see also: Zonday, Tay [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwTZ2xpQwpA]).

I couldn't even begin to imagine how many clips of hopeful would-be stars are out there - but it must be a lot, as a clever and talented mixer calling himself Kutiman [http://www.youtube.com/user/kutiman] has just released an album called Thru-You. Thru-You's songs are unique, as they're comprised entirely of clips posted to YouTube by other musicians, and expertly cut together so that ... well, you might never have known the difference if I hadn't just told you it right now.

Personally, I'm leaning towards "Mother of All Funk Chords" [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsBfj6khrG4&feature=related] (plus, it's named after me, so there you go). It's really amazing to watch all of these musicians - who might never have seen each others' videos, much less be in the same room - blend together like they might have all jointly written a song together.

And hey, in a way, I guess they kind of did. Will the Internet ever cease to amaze?

Kutiman's official Thru-You site can be found here [http://thru-you.com/].

That is nothing short of completely fucking amazing.

Ok, I can imagine someone pulling this off without video but, c'mon, this is incredible.

I love how he turned that kid's Classical piano piece into a very modern R&B melody. That video was just...amazing.

That last bit with the singer, piano and the violin is my favourite bit.

I hope the creator gave the people in this video proper credit, it would suck if he didn't.

Still, this is very impressive. Has a nice beat to it to.

Indeed.
Beats all the Rickrollin anyway :)
Imagine if all the people who used youtube actually created something good, instead of posting 2 second vids of "LOOKZ AT MY CAT, IZNT HE CUTEZ?"

Am I the only one that doesn't really like it?
I haven't listened to all of them and it's great to see something decent come from youtube for once, but I still don't like it...

That's far, far from a Youtube poop. This guy could easily fit in with Ninja Tune's artists. Ever heard of a frickin' genius by the name of Amon Tobin? Masterful musicians take a staggering number of samples and weave them into songs such that you'd never know they were almost entirely created by samplings of others work... Unless, of course, you read the liner notes!

Bridge, from Amon Tobin's second album, is one of his most mind-numbing jazz masterpieces. Check it out.
