BioShock 2: Sea of Subtitles
Is BioShock 2 subtitled Sea of Dreams or not? The headache may be over as 2K Games seems to have finally set the record straight.
Over the past two weeks or so, BioShock 2 has been having something of an identity crisis. Seems the game can't decide on what it wants to be called, with the "Sea of Dreams" subtitle being the sticking point.
When the game debuted way back when, the trailer featured the game logo with the words "Sea of Dreams" underneath the BioShock 2 part. Naturally, people being equipped with functioning brains capable of assuming logical things, we all figured that the game was called BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams.
2K could have corrected us all back then, but they decided not to until March 19, when they declared that we wouldn't be seeing "Sea of Dreams" any more. This was around the time when there are all those silly rumors about Russian rhinos and co-op multiplayer [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/90328], so we took it as 2K setting the record straight.
Apparently, it wasn't straight enough. Five days after that, 2K flip flopped and said that it really is [http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/bioshock-2-doesnt-drop-subtitle] Sea of Dreams. At which point we said we don't care any more, just end it.
Now it finally seems that 2K is ending it. Here's a definitive answer to the entire issue, straight from the mouth of 2K's Charlie Sinhaseni via IGN [http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/969/969132p1.html]: "We name most of our trailers at 2K and the name of the teaser trailer we released last October for BioShock 2 is called 'Sea of Dreams.' There was talk about adding that as an official subtitle, but we decided to simply keep it BioShock 2. We're sorry for the confusion, but we're glad people are so interested."
Why didn't you just tell us that to begin with?
