The Pitt is Back

Fallout 3 [http://fallout.bethsoft.com/eng/info/thepitt.html], is back on Xbox Live and this time they're pretty sure it works.

Xbox 360 [http://www.microsoft.com] owners unable to play the game. The Xbox Live version of the DLC was somehow "corrupted," resulting in strange in-game anomalies, lockups, crashes and of course a torrent of angry forum posts.

The expansion has now been returned to the service and appears to be working properly this time around. Gamers who have already paid for the new content will be able to re-download it, although Major Nelson [http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/03/25/fallout-3-the-pitt-is-now-available-again.aspx] says a few steps will have to be taken to eliminate the original version first.

Sign in to Xbox LIVE then press the guide button
Go to Settings->System Settings->Memory.
From here, scroll down to Fallout 3 and press A.
Select Fallout 3: The Pitt (Marketplace Content) press A then choose Delete, then Yes to Delete.

One other noteworthy point: Do not delete anything that says "autosave." "That would be bad," Major Nelson says.

The new and improved Xbox Live release of the Fallout 3 expansion The Pitt is available here [http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/offers/0CCF000D-0000-4000-8000-0000425307D5?cid=MajorNelson&partner=MajorNelson].

Just downloaded it. Hope it works. Haven't played it yet. I should probably wash the dishes first, because if I start playing The Pitt first, I'm probably not going to get the dishes washed until Sunday.

Sunday in August. I envy anyone who has downloaded it - torrential rain has knocked out Sky TV and Xbox Live (but not the internet, oddly) where I live, so I'm having to bide my time until I can download it for myself.

Just so you know... it's still bugged, one of the area's has its line segments flying every which-way meaning that it is almost impossible to see at times, it has caused me to reach a point where I can't get by due to blindness during fights. I don't know if anything else is bugged, but the part I got to was fairly close to the start.

I'm not sure if the line segment error is due to the pitt. I got that same error several times playing the original Fallout 3, before even Operation: Anchorage. Seems like it's more of a problem with the game engine itself, and the few explanations I've read is that the system itself is getting too hot processing everything, which is causing errors. Also heard it's a sign that your system might be getting ready to fail, but mine has been running fine since October with no problems. It also seems like that particular error is specific to Fallout 3, haven't gotten it in any other games, or even Oblivion. However when it does happen, if you've saved in that area and try to reload, more often than not the glitch will persist until you leave the area.

Still biding my time for the "Game of the Year" edition, so I don't have to keep buying DLC.
