GDC 2009: How Saying Goodbye Saved LittleBigPlanet

Echoing comments made by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata during his keynote this morning, Media Molecule?s Alex Evans and Mark Healey said that the secret to LittleBigPlanet's success was that the development team was ?very not afraid to ditch things.?

Watching the video and some related videos of LBP on youtube made me want to go design some cool contraptions in-game now.

Media Molecule did one hell of a job with Little Big Planet. Unfortunately, I don't think a lot of people were ready for it. It's an amazing game, but after a week I was done with it. I played through the single player and when the novelty of it wore off and the realization that making a level takes sooo much work sunk in, it just lost it's appeal. I'm glad there are still people playing it though. I really look forward to their next project.

Isn't one of the rules of user generated content that someone will ALWAYS try to implement a Turing Machine on it? Hell, there are logic gates made out of lego.
