Noby Noby Boy Cheats Its Way To Mars

For a while it seemed like it would never happen, but with a little extra help from Namco, Noby Noby Boy's GIRL has finally gotten her ass to Mars.

About a month and a half ago things weren't looking so good for Noby Noby Boy's GIRL. Being the kind of galactic life form that can only grow when Noby Noby Boy players report the lengths of their BOYs to her, she found herself suddenly stuck on the moon when people stopped playing the game. It would take her 2000 days [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/90873-Noby-Noby-Boys-Mars-Trip-Delayed] to get to Mars, according to statistics.

Trapped on that frigid and lifeless sphere made of cheese, GIRL began to lose hope. Namco, however, came to her rescue. If they couldn't get people to stick with Noby Noby Boy, well then they'd just make the most of the people who were still playing it. And so they instituted Lucky Week, a promotional period that ended last Friday during which multipliers [http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=15963899#post15963899] would be applied to player-reported BOY lengths. At one point, it got as high as 765.

And so GIRL got her ass to Mars, with a little bit of cheating, sure, but she's still there. Her next stop? Jupiter. Estimates count that as taking 152 days [http://apps.evilrobotstuff.com/nobynobyboy/?plot=daystiljupiter] from today. That's a long way to go, BOYs and GIRLs, but it's better than 2000.

Hey! This reminds me of the Beautiful Katamari thing that told you every players' combined Katamari size. I like this kind of stuff.

That's what they get for making crappy games. They have to choose between winning and keeping their self-respect. For shame.

Don't worry about it. Girl gets big and boy gets long. Nothing to see here people. Move along.

well, uh, mabey if they made more point to the game. It's kinda "go make your own fun" which is fine but I can do that just as well without the game.

Katamari freaked me out...I played a demo for We Love Katamari and I found it so deranged that I needed therapy afterwards...

I played it for a little while, but the awful controls and unfriendly menus scared me off. For a PSN title, those are make-or-break. Well, less of make, good menus and controls can't make a game good...

This could be interpreted the wrong way.

Anyway, I think they should've let nature take its course. If it had to take a few years for her to reach Mars, then so be it.

Yeah. It would have still been faster than a space shuttle that way anyway >_>

The shuttle wouldn't even make it, micro meteors would've most likely made so many pin holes it would suddenly tear itself apart. Or the crew would've killed/eaten each other.

To be honest, the game itself is relatively simplistic, so I never really saw the point of expecting anything more from it. harhol is right - you get what you pay for.

I think I must've missed something... is that talking about what I think it is? Or is it just another really, really obscure Japanese thing?

I could make no sense out of this. Is this some sort of giant innuendo in-joke I'm not in on?

Next thing they do is make compatibility with Katamari coming to the PS3 where the larger the Katamari you roll the more it's added to GIRLs length to reach jupiter (by swallowing the Katamari's?)

So not only will they be addicted to two games but they get GIRL further
That's a great idea.
NNB is fun and worth the price but it's only the kind of thing you fiddle with while trying to think of which "real" game you want to play. If they want us to get more involved, they have to give us more opportunities - I can only anchor the clouds to the ground so manny times: and if you think the innuendos are thick now try getting your boy through a cloud. I like the custom soundtrack and multiplayer but we need more things we can make objectives out of.
