Modern Warfare 2 Finally Gets A Useful Trailer

After tantalizing teasers filled with green static and the familiar sounds of gunfire, Activision has finally unveiled a good look at the upcoming Modern Warfare 2.

Debuted during Memorial Day weekend, the 2-minute clip takes a short jaunt back into the events of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare before diving headfirst into footage from its sequel.

Instantly noticeable is the presence of terrified hordes of screaming civilians. Given that the MW series is known for its attention to detail in portraying modern combat, and how one of the biggest obstacles demonstrated by recent guerrilla-style urban fighting has been in not killing civilians with collateral damage, it's almost shocking that we haven't already seen random bystanders in the series so far.

Above and beyond that, the clip is the sort of military porn that fans of CoD4:MW were hoping for in a sequel. Here's hoping it can live up to the promise of this trailer when it hits home consoles this November.

Looks great. Loved the first one, so this will probably be a definite purchase.

And was that by any chance the AC-130 in the video? Can we fly in that again, please?

Can't wait. If we could just get rid of Activision we could have games like this every year or so instead of every two.

Looks ok not much more. For me sp makes up 60% of a game and mp makes up the other 40%. Thats why CoD4 was an ok game that was over rated. Mp s_ _ked so hard with very little point besides run and gun.

A snowmobile chase?
Really?
Ugh, I was counting on them not pulling the vehicle chase gun shooty card...
Oh well, I still have complete faith in Infinity Ward...
For now...

Zomigod!

It looks very slick, but I'm terribly worried about the vehicle section. That seems to be Infinity's weak point as far as I'm concerned.

Well, the MW series is just getting it's second installment (i.e. there is only one yet), so I don't think it's strange we didn't see any loads of civilians before.

Looks okay, nothing more, Infinity have still to convince me that this is not just another shooter.

Wanna bet that they use the Rio slums, the plane yunkyard and the castle for mp maps? ;)
I really liked the "military scenes" with the camouflage guys but Im not too sure how all these shielded policemen and the guy with the mohawk fit into that game-these scenes look more like Army of Two, Mercenaries2 etc. than Modern Warfare to me.

WOW. They amped up the graphics just where it counts too. I eagerly await this.

I saw a couple of newer model AK's and it looks like we may get to play as the Spetsnaz (Russian Special forces). The trailer quite surprised me, atleast the singleplayer looks good. I just hope that they add something more than run and gun to the multiplayer.

What the hell are you all talking about? That trailer isn't useful at all, there's bugger all of the game just the opening credits. The graphics seem to have had a downgrade and the characters have all become generic.

And yet, Six Days gets shit on for the very reasons MW2 is going to be a good game...

*sigh*

Really nice trailer though.

On topic, looks good. Though the whole "snowmobile chase" had me cringing too. And the soldier with a Mohawke, PLEASE tell me he's not the main character.

Hopefully, it'll be great, I have complete faith in Infinity Ward.
