Dragon Age: Origins Cast Has Captain Janeway, Tim Curry

BioWare has announced its "star-studded" voiceover cast for Dragon Age: Origins, which prominently features Kate Mulgrew of Star Trek: Voyager and The Rocky Horror Picture Show's Dr. Frank-N-Furter himself, Tim Curry.

There will be quite a bit of dialogue in Dragon Age: Origins. Maybe not as much [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/93077-The-Old-Republic-Script-Is-the-Size-of-10-KOTORs-40-Novels] as there will be in BioWare's other other RPG epic in the making, Star Wars: The Old Republic, but presumably the amount of voiceover work being done for the game is nothing to scoff at.

So if you're going to be hearing people talk for most of the game, you might as well get some people who are trained to talk at you. Thus, BioWare's "star-studded" voice over cast for Dragon Age. The two biggest names here are the ever-prolific Tim Curry, who you might know from Muppet Treasure Island but probably know from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Kate Mulgrew, who played Captain Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager.

"Dragon Age: Origins has the largest cast of characters of any game BioWare has ever made," said Mark Darrah of BioWare. "By working with an incredibly talented cast of actors we are able to bring reality and depth to the characters, their back stories, motivations, and dreams that our talented writers have created for them."

Curry seems to be making quite a name for himself when it comes to videogame voiceover work, having lent his person as well as his voice to Red Alert 3 and also appearing in the upcoming Brutal Legend. In Dragon Age he'll be playing the bad guy as the "villainous Arl Rendon Howe," who is "cultured and charming" and yet has an insatiable lust for power.

Mulgrew, meanwhile, will take on the part of another shady character as Flemeth, a witch who "maintains her immortality through the darkest of means, and who plays a pivotal role in the player's survival."

Joining Mulgrew and Curry are Tim Russ (Tuvok on Star Trek: Voyager), Claudia Black (she was on Stargate SG-1) and Steve Valentine.

Man, call me when they Morgan Freeman to narrate...
I'm pretty sure Morgan Freeman commands the highest fees in all of Hollywood solely when it comes to narration.

woohoo!!!! this is great news, as long as paying these guys didn't take up to much of the budjet and there was enough left over to make yet another near perfect Bioware experience.

I just improved your post. Farscape > Stargate.

I wonder if BioWare's going to squeeze Jennifer Hale in somewhere...

Now all we need is an Easter Egg which gets him to wear the Frank N Furter costume. That alone would be worth the price of admission.

I'd be very surprised if they didn't. They seem to like her quite a lot, and with good reason.

If I had possibly the most enjoyable voice the world has ever known, I'd charge an arm and a leg as well. The only voice that rivals his would be Barry White, Rest his chunky soul.

I love BioWare and all, but when they release a new game, they always say "[Insert word here] is there largest part of it's type BioWare have ever done!"

I'm pretty sure the most enjoyable voice the world has ever known actually belongs to Barry Manilow.

Tim Curry? Playing a villain?

Bioware: Stop trying to sell me this game. You already made the sale months ago. All you're doing is making me die a little bit more everytime a new awesome press release hits and I realise I have to wait another two and a half months for it to be released. :(

Ehhhhhhhhh...I think of it like this: Tom Jones beats Manilow, Freeman beats Tom Jones. ;¬D

I could listen to him talk all day.

Not Stephen Fry? I mean it has to be Stephen Fry, right?
Although Fable 2 ruined his voice for me, somewhat.

I wish Tony Jay was still alive to do voiceovers =( Anyone who does Megabyte, Kresselack (from IWD), and Dr. Lipschitz (Rugrats) is an instant A in my book.

I would be sold in a instant if they told me that John Dimaggio was a voice in the game.
