Preorder Brutal Legend to Play the Demo Right Now

Want to play Brutal Legend? Go preorder it, right now.

EA and Double Fine have announced that those who preorder the awesome looking Brutal Legend from GameStop will be given a code to download the demo before anyone else. By before anyone else, they mean right now. The demo will be available on both Xbox Live and on the PlayStation Network, and all that is required is a $5 deposit and the hope that your local GameStop employees have not taken all of the early download codes for themselves.

If you just can't take the plunge with a preorder (don't forget, they're refundable if you end up hating it for some odd reason), the demo will be released to the public in a couple of weeks anyway. It wouldn't hurt to support Tim Schafer and Double Fine's upcoming creation, as it does not appear to be one to let slip through the crowded end-of-2009 schedule. Check out the opening cinematic here, the game's interesting multiplayer mode here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/93263-Brutal-Legend-Has-4v4-Multiplayer-Skirmish-Mode].

Because it just can't be summarized any better, the demo will include:

... the game's entire opening chapter, setting the stage for legendary roadie Eddie Riggs' epic journey into a Heavy Metal-inspired universe on the brink of decimation. After a stage accident renders Eddie unconscious, he awakens to find himself in a fantasy world where mountains are made of amplifiers, killer spiders spin guitar strings and heavy metal legends including Rob Halford, Lemmy Kilmister, Lita Ford and Ozzy Osbourne roam the world's picturesque landscapes. A series of tutorials will quickly show players that Eddie is uniquely qualified to lead the revolution to save humanity - his muscles big enough to swing "The Separator" axe, slashing his way through demons and druids, his strumming skills vast enough to handle "Clementine", an electrifying guitar that can shock and set fire to any threat. These weapons, along with a variety of deadly combos, powerful double-team attacks with allies and Eddie's self-made hot-rod, the Deuce, will all be needed in order to defeat the vicious boss at the end of the demo.

And if that doesn't make you want the game, then I'm sorry friend, you're beyond my help. Brutal Legend will be released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on Rocktober 13 (that's October 13, just in case) in North America, and on Rocktober 16 in Europe.

Am I the only one who thinks getting the demo as a pre-order bonus is stupid? I've never really seen the point of it, maybe it's just me.

Kinda. I'd rather have a costume/weapon/level of some sort. Oh, well.

you get the Lovebringer as well, the custom pre-order only Tenacious D guitar.

i always figured this sorta thing was for people who were pulling out their hair in frustration waiting for the release date, thinking of ways to sell testicles to the devil for an early crack at the game. you know give the big fans a taste they can play a few times before the game.

I really don't like the whole 'preorder to play the demo earlier than everyone else' - I always thought that the whole idea of a demo was for people to play it and then decide if it is worth purchasing.
Now, you have to essientally make a commitment to buy the game before you can play a demo to find out if you just wasted your money on the preorder. I'm not saying that Brutal Legend will be a waste of money, certainly not - it looks amazing, it's just I don't like preordering to play demos on principle.

I agree with you. The whole point of a demo is to make people interesed so they buy the game. So, making the demo a pre-order bonus is very stupid.

That's damn stupid, I hate when this happens.

A demo is supposed to help you judge whether the game is good and if you're going to get it if you're on the edge, not this "preorder and get the demo," crap.

This is stupid, if I'm not sure whether I want a game then I'll download the demo and won't preorder it.

I play the demo to decide if I want the game. This sort of strategy just makes me cynical about it, and not trust that the game is good enough for the demo to make me preorder it. I am looking forward to the game, but I will certainly wait to play the demo BEFORE I order it.

Isn't the demo supposed to make me preorder by showing me how great the game is?

It's probably just Gamestop employees testing out the game themselves. They do it all the time with other games.

And bam, right there. Stopped reading. My respect level for Tim Schafer dropped a little right there, too. :(

Anywho... I kinda have to agree with above commentary, too. A demo shouldn't be exclusive, and while it's possible that they might release the demo to the open public after the game is out, why not start drumming-up some sales right now? People who have already preordered the game are probably the last people you should be urgently getting a demo to.

You can wait one week, well now five days. I'm actually one of the pre-orderers and I'm only mildly irked by that. Shouldn't you get more angry if pre-orders were getting something really special that you'll never get a chance to lay your hands on. If anything the pre-orderies should be annoyed for not getting something more unique. Wait no, they are just happy to finally get a chance to play the game they been waiting for. Well not me but, I can live with a little more of a wait.
