What could possibly be cuter than the animated video for the Plants vs. Zombies [http://www.popcap.com/games/pvz] song? A live action version of the same thing!

Anyway, cute as it was (and as you'd expect from PopCap, it was awfully cute), a live-action homage [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98v7Jq6IFrE&feature=player_embedded] currently making the rounds might just outdo it. It's not a frame-by-frame translation, of course, but there's a plant, some zombies and the same upbeat song that made the original so memorable.

Now I admit that "cute" is subjective and some people might argue that this is really just kind of weird, but hey, stop being so damn cynical. It's cute!

Seriously, this video is weird, disturbing, and definitely not cute.

However, they did (apparently) shoot it in one take/shot. So I'll give them credit for getting the choreography right and not cutting/editing.

Ugh. You know how kids do stupid or unremarkable things and then beam about them like they just invented cold fusion, and stand around waiting for their parents to give them that uninterested and condescending pat on the head... Oh yes Jimmy, it is so interesting that you can make fart sounds with your armpit. Well, to me, fanvids such as this one remind me of those childish antics, but then the sickening realization hits me that these aren't children, but in fact, grown adults. Ok, you took someone else's song, lipsynched it poorly as you and a couple friends cosplayed in front of a camera. Hoo-frickin-rah. To the people who made that vid, come back when you have talent and/or originality, like Laura Shigihara (the one who wrote and performed that song).
