Football Hero: Rock Out With Your Soccer Balls Out

What do you get when you mix Guitar Hero [http://www.kasabian.co.uk/] played on a three-story-high screen by "freestyle footballers."

The basics of Football Hero should be instantly recognizable: Pushing buttons to match colored blocks that slide down a screen in time with music. But this time around, the screen is a projection on a giant wall, the buttons are large, custom-built pads and the pushing is done with soccer balls kicked by a group of "insanely gifted young freestyle footballers."

It's not an exact match of Guitar Hero, of course; the game is programmed with one track, Kasabian's "Underdog," and has been simplified somewhat to accommodate the natural limitations of a huge, footie-based videogame controller. When all is said and done, however, the results are better than I would have expected: After only 17 games (and, I would imagine, a lot of practice) the group manages a 76 percent accuracy rating and a ten note accuracy streak.

Two videos of the event are available: The "making of [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XjwoVqM_qE&annotation_id=annotation_173118&feature=iv]" video, a look at the time and effort that went into setting this whole thing up. I'm not sure what the point was, but I have to admit, I'm impressed.

I hate football (that's the proper name, not soccer), but I was still impressed by this. 76% Accuracy, dámn.

The title pisses me out. 'Out' doesn't rhyme with 'Out'.

But epic video, must've taken AGES to set up and practice.

I'm impressed that they were able to coordinate all of the kicks that consistently. Hitting a small spot repeatedly like that is hard on its own and having to do it in time to music has got to be a big challenge.

best commercial ive seen in along time, despite Mr. funks enthusiasm and hyping for the ps3 adds and that cellphone thing.

and really impressive, i suck at both football and the "music games" genre, so to me this is as impressive as seeing someone shoot fire out their eyes, something else i will never be able to do,no mater how hard i try.
