Teenage Adventurer Immortalized In Sims 3 Expansion

He can't grow a beard, buy cigarettes or vote, but British teen Michael Perham is the latest downloadable content addition announced for EA's The Sims 3 World Adventures.

World Adventures is the first expansion for the unsurprisingly successful latest sequel in the Sims franchise. This morning's announcement describes the add-on as a gameplay segment where "players can take their Sims to new destinations to conquer challenges, find treasures, discover what's lurking in hidden caves, and much more."

Why exactly is EA honoring a U.K. resident (pictured above with his virtual self) who was only alive for the final season of Saved By The Bell? Simple, while you and I spent 2008 watching reruns of Zack Morris' endlessly entertaining hijinks on TBS, Mr. Perham was busy setting a record for being the youngest person to ever sail around the entire planet.

As if that wasn't enough, three years prior to his Magellan-esque voyage, Perham set the record for being the youngest person to sail across the Atlantic Ocean all by his lonesome.

For comparison, what were you up to at age 14?

If you suddenly find yourself impressed by the exploits of Mr. Perham and feel your copy of The Sims 3 could use a dash of "world famous teen adventurer", Mr. Perham's virtual simulacrum can be found in the Sims 3 Exchange [http://www.thesims3.com/exchange] for the truly generous price of 0£ (based on the current exchange rate, that's free in American dollars, and "cero pesos" for our friends to the south).

If you want to learn more about a teen who may I'd call "the living incarnation of Jonny Quest" (if he wasn't way too young to get that joke), while learning to feel terrible about how dull your own life is, enjoy reading his Wikipedia page [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Perham]. I fully expect him to be building time machines and punching out Hitler by the age of 21.

When I was 5 I saved the world and cured AIDS.

Did anyone thank me? No. So I gave you AIDS again.

Ah, so this must be the kid saying the line "I love the stars at night" in the new Discovery Channel "The World Is Just Awesome" commercial, right?

I was playing computer games and going to school when I was 14.

Not much has changed, but I have a kick-ass PC now, and I'm far less stupid.

Oh, and the 'delightful' fact that I'm a pessimistic, sarcastic misanthrope now.

Who the hell is he? Seriously.

He wears a sleeve-less jacket. And he's a dude.

Why do I get the feeling only a couple of the people posting here bothered to read more than the headline before replying? I might have heard of his exploits in passing but I certainly wasn't familiar with him until just now.

The fact that the article told you who he is and linked his wikipedia page doesn't clue you in at all?

I remember hearing about this, but I expected him to get lost at sea or something.
Or was it some 14 year old girl who wanted to sail around the world on her own?

I forget, but in any case, he probably accomplished more in his life than anyone here, except the one member here who suplexed God.

Masturbating, dating a girl, breaking up with a girl, and more masturbating.

In that order.

He sailed across the Atlantic when he was 14? I'm 16, and i didn't even fly on a plane! Talk about "living a full life".

Well, so did Marty McFly.
