David Jaffe Hints at Twisted Metal Reboot

David Jaffe, the original designer of God of War and Twisted Metal for Sony, said that he doesn't regret leaving GoW series and that he may or may not be working on a TW reboot.

Jaffe has earned his credibility by speaking directly to his audience via video blogs. His latest installment [http://criminalcrackdown.blogspot.com/2010/01/ares-give-me-cherry-coke-slurpee-and-my.html] discusses how he feels no regret for leaving Sony's stewardship of the God of War series, how he's psyched that GoW is gracing 7-Eleven Slurpee cups and how a reboot of the Twisted Metal series may be the next thing coming from his game studio, Eat Sleep Play.

"I don't wish I was on the on the Slurpee cups at 7-Eleven [http://www.amazon.com/God-War-III-Playstation-3/dp/B000ZK9QCS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1278968473&sr=1-1].

"It's pretty fucking exciting to know that there will be people all over the country who are going to walk into 7-Eleven and [experience Kratos] as a part of their history, of their culture," he said. "To the God of War 3 team, I say that's awesome, guys.

He also briefly hinted at what his company is working on now, as reported by VG24/7. "Just to be clear, I've never said we were or were NOT making a new Twisted Metal. Ever. But just to be 100% clear, if we were to make a new Twisted, I would consider it a reboot," Jaffe said.

"If we were to make a new one, we'd be starting with the assumption that no one knows what Twisted Metal is anymore and we'd have to re-earn each and every fan the series ever had."

Reminds me of the conversations he and Geoff had some some months ago. Never cared for Twisted Metal but I'll check his new game out regardless.

I used to play the hell out of twisted metal 3 & 4 with my cousin, we'd spend hours just beating the game over and over and over again. I don't know why it was so damned fun, it just was. With PS3 graphics, and killer clowns in icecream trucks, hopefully we can see a 'good' reboot.

Twisted Metal 2 was the damn highlight of the entire ps1 multiplayer experience. Give me another sweet rooftop bottle coupled with another badass soundtrack and I'm sold.

I can still hear the rooftop stage music.

I have owned all of them but Head-On and 2... Really regret selling my PS1 with all my TM games and my other games. Now all I have is Black. :/

Well I'm intrigued as i've played all the twisted metal games cept Head-On and Small Brawl. I own 2,3,4 and black and i dont plan on getting rid of them anytime soon. A reboot for the PS3 could be awesome with the bright and shiny graphics. I can imagine ramming the hell out of the others with Darkside's semi

Whatever, just wash your hands.
is the plot of twisted metal really so intricate that it would require a total reboot?

New TM? Yes please! I loved smashing my little bro in those, and would love to kick his ass again. Another vigilante 8 would be sweet too

I found this rather cool. I sure hope to see this in the future more often. I would kill for a Golden Sun Slurppee cup.

On the topic of Twisted Metal, I have only ever played a demo for one of them on the Playstation. Although It could be a nice alternative to Burnout.

God, I remember this game from when I was a kid. I used to rent the fourth one from the local Blockbuster all the time. It's really the only car game I ever really liked, and I'm thrilled they're (probably) bringing it back. =D

That would be on a par with an Interstate 76 MMO :D
I would rather have interstate 76 than twisted metal, so long as there was a similar art style and not "grey/brown realism"

I never had a chance to play the third or fourth Twisted Metal games but I loved the first two to death p.q

I would love to see that series come back
