Sony Announces SOCOM 4
Sony's mysterious super-secret announcement didn't turn out to be a new Twisted Metal or Killzone as some people were hoping, but it should definitely make SOCOM fans happy.

There was a bit of buzz around the internet earlier this week about a mystery announcement Sony was planning to reveal a hot new game. Naturally, the internet being what it is, rumors abounded: Some called the unknown title David Jaffe's next Twisted Metal, some said it was SOCOM 4 [http://www.amazon.com/Killzone-3-Playstation/dp/B002I0K6DG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1279054111&sr=1-1].
SOCOM 4 is a new tactical, squad-based third-person shooter that puts players in the shoes of a man known only as the Ops Commander. Deployed to Southeast Asia with your five-man NATO squad, you have to... well, presumably you have to shoot some suckas in the face. The SOCOM games have never quite taken off as much as some other series, but they definitely have their own fanbase who should be quite pleased by this news.
The PlayStation Blog [http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/03/socom-4-teaser-directors-commentary/] has a version of the above trailer with commentary from the game's Creative Director, Ed Byrne - if the game intrigues you, it's definitely worth a watch.
