Question of the Day, March 13, 2010

Sony recently announced that it's making a number of changes and updates to Home. If you own a PS3, how much time do you spend in Home?

Never, as I don't own a PS3. However, even if I did own one, I doubt I'd ever bother with Home, to be honest...

I don't own a PS3 either, but home sounds pointless and boring to me, so the never option is going to win 5 to 1 probably.

It's incredibly pointless, and I have only used it once, for about 5 minutes.

It sucks.

It's a average concept, that never appealed to me. I used it once, got bored, very bored, very quickly.

Sony could so easily invest their money in something worth while.

I don't own a PS3 so I...

Wow, this is a popular answer. Where are the PS3 owners all of a sudden?

I tried the beta when it first came out. It sucked. Needless to say, I won't be trying again.

I tried getting it started once, I spent 10 minutes making a profile then just ragequit and played some... I think it was Dragon Age.

I go on for the EA poker, it's a laugh sometimes. It's actually better with less people on so I'm kinda glad less people seem to go on it.

Although I am a bit surprised at how many people seem to be commenting saying they don't have a PS3, I know more people who have PS3s probably don't go on it then do go on it but that maybe defeats the point of the poll if everyone who doesn't have a PS3 votes as well...

Tried it. Only go back once in a while to play chess with people. Apart from that I don't really care. And the updates every single time are a nuisance.

I went twice, when it first opened and months later and it was still disjointed and dumb as the first time.

Well I don't have a PS3 so I didn't vote, because I paid attention to the blurb on the front page that said "This one's for PS3 owners only". But it's interesting to see how many people think PS-Home is a waste of time. I have a 360 and am always checking the different little updates on deals and features, it just seems strange that Sony doesn't have something similar that is convenient and usable.

I've tried it a few times. The first time was when it first opened and it was alright but pointless. The next time I went in there was some sort of scavenger hunt puzzle going on. It was a pretty interesting use of the environment but I didn't get far with it because it glitched out on me once I'd solved all the puzzles and locked up when I tried to continue.

Haven't been back for probably nearly a year now.

I tried it once for shits and giggles, it was all shits and no giggles. I've been back once, just so I could enter the code for my 'War' costume, so as to strike fear into the hearts of other avatars as one of the 4 horseman walked among them *evil laugh, followed by lightning strike*

I've logged in a few times. It's an interesting concept, but I think the Second Life aspects are going to be pared down significantly, to get them out of the way of more "real" interaction. I'd be satisfied with just the titular Home space, if I have the ability to invite friends list members in for avatar-based text or vox chat while we figure out which game to play together. Adding some PSN game sharing (like the PSP PlayShare) would help make it more social AND likely spur more sales of DLGs.

I'm glad Sony's still working on it. It's free, after all, and still technically in Beta, so expectations should be kept rather low. I still see plenty of ways this could grow into a very interesting alternative to the far right option on the XMB.
