Could Rock Band Be Adding Japanese Rock Bands?

Evidence suggests that Harmonix may be adding J-Rock performers like Gackt and L'Arc~en~Ciel to upcoming Rock Band DLC.

Years ago, Harmonix announced that it would be working on Rock Band: Japan, a veritable celebration of the long, storied, and really weird J-Rock scene. Flash forward two years, and the project seems dead in the water: We're probably not getting Rock Band: Japan, says Harmonix's PR manager Nick Drake.

But that doesn't mean you won't ever get to get your Gackt on in J-Rock Revolution [http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=65099], which polled its members to find out what acts they'd like to see in hypothetical DLC. The results?

Is this a good thing? Are they talented acts? The only ones I've heard of on that list are Gackt and L'Arc~en~Ciel, and that's because the former is Japan's equivalent to Michael Jackson at the height of his popularity, and I think the latter was in the first Ouendan.

I can't say I'd get a J-Rock DLC package myself, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who would. Especially the ones who live in Japan.

I'd get it. It seems like there's a solid list of great bands from Japan. I was hoping for some FLOW or Abingdon Boys School to be on the list but I can live without.

I've always wondered about Rock Band style games overseas, do they sing in English? Are they translated? Does it all still 'fit'?
It's good to know they are getting some more non-English speaking talent. At least in DLC.
That said, I'm not getting it...

I wouldn't mind playing rockband to L'arc en Ciel. I like their music.

I'm so very glad that I quit buying these kinds of games at Guitar Hero 3, it's all pretty much gone down hill from there.

I have a few friends who are literally trying to be Japanese. This would please them so badly.

I have been wondering for awhile whether to not this was going to happen. Some of X-Japan's riffs are amazing to listen too, they pretty much fathered Japanese rock music with very 80's hair metal-esque sounds. I can foresee a definite rival of difficulty to Dragonforce. D'espairs Ray would appeal to a wide audience as well, they have a darker sort of industrial sound mixed with the rock sound and tend to be very solid with their music. Gazette and Dir en Grey will fit in with those who prefer lower, darker, or more metal sounding rock.

An Cafe? That.. hurts my soul.

I'll hold out for Melt-Banana or Boris.
You sir, are awarded with 8999 internets. Additionally you are showered with cred. If you care for that sort of thing, that is.

Kinda surprised B'z isnt on there or Maximum the Hormone.
Maximum the Hormone would be awesooooome.

The only one I know from that list is Nightmare really, never heard of most of the others. I would definitely get Japanese DLC.

I am not really a fan of An Café, however.
