Most of that stuff wouldn't last a trip through someone's backyard, much less the Apocalypse. Low quality junk. Sadness.

EDIT: Just checked their survival/utility knives and found SOG, Cold Steel, and KaBar. Okay, they've got SOME stuff worth having...

Well that's all excellent but... the name.

Calumon: The name "EDGES of Reality." is kind of EDGY with that lawsuit thing going over the EDGE!

Display swords and all that are pretty but yeah most of that stuff is probably not much tougher than cast aluminium.

(Yes, they have a bunch of collector and replica garbage, but if you take time to search the site, there are areas where they have real stuff

That Axe is $30, it is for display.

For a $30 (outrageously cheap for something that big) display axe, it is made of...let's see.

Well, not balsa wood.

The handle is hardwood and the head is stainless steel, sounds pretty good to me! Who knows how it would handle stress over a long period of time, but I imagine you could get at least a week out of it for hardwood and stainless steel.

It would be nice if the site would tell you on all items which of the swords you could slice a man in half with and which you would have trouble cutting butter.

For a little less than that, I have a 12" throwing knife I can put through cinder blocks till the cows get home, and still be able to throw it (and expect it to stay in the target).

I DID admit they have SOME stuff worth having, but most of this stuff shouldn't be used for anything other than hanging on a wall. They are made of inferior steel, which means they're very likely to break, which can cause serious injuries.

Let us not forget the HSN Katana Salesman.

Actually...

Keep in mind, THAT blade was 440 Stainless, most of these are 420 which is a weaker material.

I am somewhat of a weapons-snob.

I see at least one weapon that I already own that's more than twice the price I paid for it.

Then again I got it at a flea market.

Holy crap, I actually have that display axe!

As for the website, I'll take a better look around later, but they didn't impress me right off the bat as well as Cold Steel did. They have more than just bladed weapons, which really caught my attention. When wanting a good survival tool and weapon, I'd probably have to go for their Special Forces Shovel.

I guess if they sell Cold Steel stuff, that's cool.

Ok, you've made your point.

But there is a bit of a difference, he hit a thin blade lengthwise, hard. whereas with this axe you would hit a much thicker blade EDGEWISE (and I can't see a battleaxe blade swung edge first bending like that). But yeah, I see your point.

That was the back of the blade, not the flat. It's a common stress-test for swords and knives.

They have a contact form here: http://www.edgesofreality.com/contact_us/

Let them know you'd like a bit more delineation of the higher quality stuff (or whatever you'd like to see that makes it easier to navigate). I imagine if the suggestions result in more people buying things, they'd love to have the feedback.
