DJ Hero, Band Hero, Guitar Hero 5 Official

Activision has formally pulled the cover off three new Hero titles set to ship this fall: DJ Hero, Band Hero, and Guitar Hero 5.

It isn't like we didn't know about the games, of course. But this is the first we've really gotten a look at the new DJ Hero turntable controller (seen here), as well as any pertinent information about the others. Here's the official Activision word about the three new games:

[blockquote]DJ Hero: The company's groundbreaking DJ Hero expands Guitar Hero's signature social gaming to all-new consumers with the addition of diverse music genres including hip-hop, R&B, Motown, electronica and dance. Introducing an all-new innovative turntable controller, DJ Hero transforms players into DJs who rule the club scene by creating original mixes of popular songs and music from the world's most exciting artists and DJs.

Guitar Hero 5: Letting fans continue to fulfill their rock fantasies, Guitar Hero 5 features the hottest rock and roll artists today as well as classic rock bands and gives players an unprecedented level of control over the way they play the game with the ability to drop in and out of songs and change band members, instruments and difficulty levels on the fly.

Band Hero: The franchises' first E10+ rated console game, Band Hero delivers an exciting music collection featuring top-40 hits designed to expand the experience to a new genre and appeal to a broad family audience who can play together on the guitar, drums, bass and microphone. The game builds upon Guitar Hero's easy-to-play, difficult-to-master signature gameplay and allows novice players and expert fans to join together on their favorite songs.[/blockquote]

So, DJ Hero sounds like it could be kind of cool. GH5, gonna be more of the same - no reason for Activision to reinvent an extremely popular wheel, after all - and Band Hero, uh... sounds like the standard Rock Band / Guitar Hero formula, except with the Jonas Brothers.

...yeah, I'm gonna have to pass on that last one, Activision.

Uh.... Lame much? DJ Hero sounds dumb. GH5 sounds like more of the same. And Band Hero is going to be... a kiddie World Tour? Bleh, whatever. Maybe Band Hero will keep the bad music off of GH5, but somehow I doubt it.

Well, I am going to break from the trend here and say that I STILL enjoy guitar heroes, and if GH5 goes for better songs than they have been releasing as of late, all the better. DJ hero and Band hero, not my forte, but I am sure someone will probably like the idea. \

Also, I am not trying to defend Activision, because they are releasing an absurd amount of guitar hero themed games as of late, but calling them sellouts? They haven't changed their ideals, they make a popular game to make cash, business 101. Guitar hero is still the same as it was when people toted it to be great, they have just added to their instruments and song list, that to me does not = sellouts.

That's why I like Rock Band more then Guitar Hero. DJ Hero is for rap and R&B music(which in my opinion isn't music) and Band Hero....no, just no.

No, but to make rock music games then start making hip hop games is as much selling out as making rock music then switching to hip hop. They should just focus on GH, they already have plenty of money not to go whoring franchises, and spliting the team to work on different things will potentialy ruin GH, thus undermining their own games.

What about people who prefer hip-hop / electronica / etc to rock? Should they never get a game that caters to their tastes? It isn't like Activision is stopping making the rock game.
