Slave Leia and Math Geeks Jam in Katy Perry Parody Video

They kissed some nerds (and they liked it).

It's probably safe to say that everyone is getting a little tired of Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl." While it's certainly a catchy song, every radio station and music channel overplayed it like crazy the past couple of years. That said, I never get sick of good satire, and this video here is better than I expected it to be.

"I Kissed a Nerd" is the creation of Blythe Renay and Rissy Pelot from the Damsels of Dorkington, a geek-friendly performance group composed of three lovely young women (and one dude). Just about every nerd stereotype is mentioned or put on the screen at some point of the music video, including cosplay, Cthulhu, and lightsabers. More importantly, though, the lyrics are clever and funny.

The song was originally written by Renay and Pelot as part of their previous troupe, "Willie's Wenches," and received some initial popularity thanks to comedy DJ Doctor Demento. Now, the duo have joined up with a couple of other performers to form the Damsels, and their <a href=http://www.youtube.com/user/DamselsOfDorkington#p/u/0/arjiHvkVXfA>YouTube videos hint at a lot of comedy potential.

I'm not sure if I should admit to this, but I was kind of impressed that Rissy was holding a copy of <a href=http://www.amazon.com/Book-Nod-Sam-Chupp/dp/1565040783>The Book of Nod, a supplement for the original Vampire: The Masquerade that I might have owned when I was in high school.
Yeah, I was totally cool.

Slow news day huh?

Anyway, that's kinda funny I guess, the nerd needs some more love.

You know, comments like that are just rude and annoying. We try to bring you a breadth of information - some vital, some just silly and fun. It doesn't have to be a "slow news day" for us to want to share something that we think readers will enjoy.

It brought a smile to my face, but really this is by far the best Katy Perry cover I have ever seen:

Loved it. Was good for a laugh, not quite on par as that Star Wars rap though. Still, keep spreading these videos, they usually make my day... Or night as is this case.

Oooooooh You're in troouublllle.

OT: Silly silliness is silly. Is it bad that I never heard the original song that this parodies?

Heh heh heh... Awesome...
Would the song have been as popular if this was the original?
Popular? I dunno... But much funnier...

Very funny, although being a nerd, I'm not sure if I should be insulted on honoured by this.

I wasn't paying attention to the lyrics the first time I watched. I was to busy thinking "Cool I wish I had that costume/lightsabre/R2-D2 plushy"

Song needs Katy Perry's voice.

It was kind of clever, though. A big "do not want" for the acne thing, though.

Loved it, and as Adzma said the lyrics are very clever. Extra kudos for the Cthulhu plushie hand puppet (seems the same as the one from http://www.callsforcthulhu.com ).
