Read the post above you for an answer to that question.BlueHighwind said:What in the world was he playing? A prize grabber?
By the way, prize grabbers are many times more awesome than just about every arcade game ever made, mostly because when you're done you might have a bunny. When you're done with Pac-Man, you just have a lighter wallet.
They most certainly "can" be whatever percentage shorter but I certainly don't know if they "should" be shorter. That I'm probably spending a bit of an over indulgent time expanding and playing simple ideas longer than they need to go, isn't something I take lightly. I don't agree that shorter would make it punchier, or even more succinct. Longer comics than mine have also been funnier, more poignant, and more important than the things I've done here. Some people do strips in three panels, some take twenty three. If the work is true to itself the whole time, the length should naturally out of that.ArmorArmadillo said:Every single one of these comics can and should have been 75% shorter.
If you keep watching this comment space, I'll see if I can provide a short tutorial on how I achieved the strange colors here. Once you're set up and know how to do it, it's an incredibly quick method to apply strange glows and colors. From then on, it's just massaging it towards a visually pleasing or potent image.Gigaguy64 said:How did you color it btw, if you don't mind me asking?
Wow, thanks!Remy Cambridge said:If you keep watching this comment space, I'll see if I can provide a short tutorial on how I achieved the strange colors here. To be honest, I wish I could have taken the time to solidify the colors a bit more, and take a less... impressionist route to the illustration. And then I could add flesh tones and more proper colors to each of the characters. But the result here, I'm happy to say feels "noisy" and the wild pinks and clashing greens seem to help with that.
Any case, the tutorial will have to wait. It's late at night here for me. I'll see if I can explain for you guys the wonders that a "Gradient Adjustment Layer" and "Color Blend Layers" can do for your standard everyday grey scale image.
And here's a bit of a play by play on a recent drawing.Gigaguy64 said:Ill be looking foreword to it.
(No rush though, i don't want to make you feel pressured )
And are you drawing this by hand and then Scanning it into a Program, or are you drawing with a Tablet?

The comics are a hundred percent digital. Using a bit of Google and a little know how, I managed to make a custom brush that comfortably emulated a pencil. That could be a tutorial for another time.

And the final piece after further adjustments. I apologize if the tutorial doesn't quite provide a lot of answers, but hopefully it opens up a lot of options for you. Experiment. There are no rules. Enjoy what you do.
Here's the final piece for the curious.
