Gold Earned Early in Fable 3 Through Smartphone Treasure Hunt

Gold can be earned early for use in Fable 3, but only for those that own a smartphone.

social networking website [http://www.amazon.com/Fable-III-Xbox-360/dp/B002I0JGDM/ref=sr_1_3?s=gateway&ie=UTF8&qid=1285752539&sr=8-3], you'll feel right at home using the upcoming app.

It's called Fable 3: Kingmaker and was caught by CVG in the most recent issue of Xbox World magazine. Playing Kingmaker will apparently earn players gold for use in Fable 3. The game's official website [http://www.fable3kingmaker.com/Default.aspx?lang=en] says that it'll launch on October 1, but exactly in what regions or on what platforms is unclear, so it could hit the Apple store, or it could be released through other methods.

Kingmaker's description reads: "The kingdom of Albion is in turmoil. Two rival armies are fighting for total dominion: the tyrant king's Royals and the revolutionary Rebels. And now the battle has spilled onto the wretched streets of Great Britain! For this is where the wondrous world of Fable meets the real world. Where the battleground is your town, and your only weapon is your smartphone."

"Your mission, should you be foolish enough to accept it, is to plant virtual flags for the Royals or the Rebels, and claim power-ups in locations throughout the United Kingdom... For every flag you plant, and every power up you claim, you shall earn gold coins, which you shall then be able to transfer into the Fable 3 game on your Xbox 360!"

I was initially baffled by the choice to ditch the platform of Xbox Live for a smartphone app this time around, but what Microsoft is doing here is at least different than a simple mini-game. It possibly solves the problem of people cheating through Pub Games to earn massive amounts of cash (as they did), and is still something neat that Fable 3 players can participate in while waiting for the game to come out. Depending on how Kingmaker is released, it could be fun for those that enjoy "checking in," just as long as it protects people's privacy [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/103419-Thieves-Target-Homes-Based-on-Facebook-Updates] as well.

Okay I'm not big on phones... what constitutes as a smart phone?

I have a Samsung touch screen... I'd say that's fairly smart.

Anyway I may get this if I can. If not... meh, I'm not missing out on much.

as a general rule of thumb its a phone with capabilities beyond basic text+call. calender, apps, etc all make a phone qualify as a smart. smart phones from 5 years are considered basic by modern day standards

I remember cheating to earn loads of money on Pub Games. This seems like an interesting way to stop people doing it this time, although I can't see it being as popular as an Arcade download. Nevermind, I'm all in favour of them trying something new.

I guess that works... though really, with or without Pub Games, money in Fable 2 was ridiculously easy to get anyway, with or without cheating via messing with the 360's timer.

I really don't see the point, to be honest. Oh well.

OR just accrue a few gold normally, invest it in something that makes money over time, exit the game and move the clock forward 2 years, cash the money, move the clock back, and not spend money on a Smartphone app.

Too many commas is too many.

Fable 2's Pub Games [http://www.amazon.com/Fable-III-Xbox-360/dp/B002I0JGDM/ref=sr_1_3?s=gateway&ie=UTF8&qid=1285752539&sr=8-3], though Microsoft will be allowing players to do so through a smartphone app instead.
Wait a minute, cash is still a big deal in this game?

How does that make sense with the context of the story? Your a revolutionary fighting against a tyrant.

Your not gonna raid royal ammunition depots for your weapons? The people your trying to liberate aren't gonna offer you shelter or supplies? What?!

Well, time to find an Iphone emulator and a way to trick it into thinking I've been in different places.
