Gran Turismo 5's Concrete Release Date Smashed

Nothing is set in stone when it comes to the oft-delayed Gran Turismo 5.

After constant delays, Sony and Polyphony Digital Gran Turismo 5 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101393-E3-2010-Gran-Turismo-5-Gets-Desperately-Needed-Release-Date] would finally be released on the PlayStation 3 this year on November 2, 2010. Unfortunately, that's turned out to be a falsehood.

SCEA producer Taku Imasaki confirmed on the Sony Blog today that Gran Turismo 5 will be delayed past its November 2 release date. His brief message assured gamers that it'll still be out for the holiday season of 2010, and said that the delay was due to Polyphony Digital wanting to create the "perfect racing experience."

It was a shock to racing game fans that Gran Turismo 5 was finally coming out in 2010 after more than half-a-decade of development time, and I'm sad to say their dreams have been shattered once again. I'm starting to think that any release date for Gran Turismo 5 cannot be believed until the game is in the hands of consumers and running on their PlayStation 3 consoles. When the new release "projection" for Gran Turismo 5 is announced, we'll let you know.

Ugh...I've been waiting for quite some time for this, and it gets delayed again.

Suppose I shouldn't be surprised. But I will not be forgiving to Polyphony Digital if this is not the closest thing to a perfect racing sim that a company can make. Especially after all this time.

Well that's good. Nice to have a game that can be shortened to 3 characters again for "biggest vaporware" now that Duke Nukem Forever looks to actually be coming out. So who wants to start the "things that have taken less time than the development of GT5" webpage?

Jesus GT5. It's getting ridiculous. There's perfection and then there's madness. This thing better deliver or otherwise the backlash could be huge. Will casuals still pick up a PS3 for this after so many delays and broken promises?

Well, apparently they've been working on making it play like a dream. Their last few efforts played like a dream, so I'm sure they have something worthwhile when they finally release it.

I totally agree with you - Burnout Paradise was a fantastic game. But it's not a racing sim by any stretch of the imagination. GT5 will be fun in a 'serious racing sim' kind of way, where you can't just smash your way around the place.

Although the go-karts could be a giggle.

This better not be delayed too much, I really want to get my hands on it. I've been hankerin' for a good ole' fashioned racing game for a while, and the GT series have struck a chord with me. I never feel like I'm playing the games "right", but I do enjoy them to an extent.

And the fact that it's the prettiest game I've seen so far doesn't hurt.

Grr! Gran Turismo is one of the best racing games out there. I hate that they keep screwing around with the release date.
At least I have Forza to play until release, which is one the same level as Gran Turismo.

But please do release Gran Turismo! I love those games.

I'm going to do the only realistic thing I can to stick it to sony computer entertainment and buy the game second hand so they never get any more of my money, I think I will do that for everything else that comes out on PS3 from now on or just buy it on 360. Anyone else agree with this idea ?
