Pencils Up For the Trine 2 Haiku Contest

Trine 2 [http://trine2.com/] is coming and that means it's time for a Haiku contest, with with nothing less than poetic immortality for the winner!

Surely you know by now that Trine 2 is Shadowgrounds [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101479-Trine-2-Coming-Next-Year], but that's how it is and it's great stuff.

Anyway, Trine 2 is slated for next year and to pass the time until it shows up, Frozenbyte has decided that a haiku contest is in order. The rules are simple:

Write a haiku
So inspired by Trine 2
Mail it to Finland.

Not only will you get to show off your poetic brilliance to the world, but the best entry will actually be used in the game. The winner will also receive a bunch of Trine 2 postcards, haiku'd and signed by the development team.

There are details, of course, but it's all pretty straightforward. Entries can be submitted on frozenbyte.com [http://twitter.com/frozenbyte] and then get haikuing!

"Write a haiku" is only 4 syllables. You should have written "Compose a Haiku."
I believe in free-form haiku. Also, SHUT UP

Interesting fact: in Japanese haiku is three syllables, so technically your first line is okay.

I understand that there are variations but I'm obviously not familiar with them. I think the 5/7/5 pattern is the most commonly accepted form. That's what Frozenbyte is asking for.

On a semi-related note, I am seriously jazzed for Trine 2.

Forgive me if I can't read properly but does mean winning the contest mean also you get the game for free as well?
Well, if I'm reading it properly, and I'm not 100% positive myself...

...You get some postcards.

Just don't mail one to a relative by mistake I guess.

So this is that game about the conjoined fantasy tropes? Dammit, now I keep thinking of Splice and wildly inappropriate haikus!
