Week in Review: Anonymous Attacks and Alternate Assassins

In this week's edition, Anonymous locks horns with the American government, and the king of World of Warcraft lore is immortalized in the game.

BlizzCon Red Shirt Guy Becomes Red Shirt Dwarf

After earning himself some internet fame for besting Blizzard on the finer points of World of Warcraft Lore, the "Winner of BlizzCon [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/104884-WoW-Lore-Nerd-Becomes-WoW-Character]" has been immortalized in-game, as the official fact checker for the Wildhammer clan. Blizzard later confirmed that the pictures showing the latest addition to the Dwarven court were genuine, and not faked as many had believed. What's weird about giving Cardy a name? He's the nicest company I've had since the Companion Cube.

Awesome week ,also 30 minutes of downtime and a few hours of confusion is hardly 'crippled.' So they basically think their view is superior to everyone else? It's an ever-ending paradox kids!

The man who broke his T.V. is a rare man. The true man. We need more guys like these who don't sue mad like a trigger-happy 12 year-old playing Halo. (Mind the analogy.)

"Anonymous Cripples Copyright Site"
If I would be them, I wouldn't go poking in to the government business... Because when they start going after them, everyone on the Internet will suffer -.-

That's right Anonymous poke the bear with a stick that'll teach em.
Depends on location of poking and the itchy factor of bears.

Also, somewhat unrelated, you have a fantastic avatar :).

ha ha thanks

But I fear they're fighting a losing battle.
Well known P2P software was recently barred by court from distributing their software. I believe the the DMCA can be pretty ridiculous at times. But in the end if you're not paying for the song its stealing under the law and the courts are gonna side with the record companies.

Which is fine. In the past the courts have sided against people whose only crime was being of a different Hue, or a different faith, or for doing something that is now considered fairly unimportant or impressive.

Laws are evolving and they always will be.

The different between potential revenue and actual revenue is so dramatic that these current laws are fruitlessly battling against an immense torrent of water. Soon they'll fall as poorly aging laws before them fell.

It won't effect me either way since I'm not in the business (of producing music or pirating it), but it'll be nice to see people catching up with the real world and letting go of the past. Since nostalgia does little more than waste time.
