Press X to Accio Harry Potter Quiz!

How much do you know about the games based on the Boy Who Lived?

There's no question that the Harry Potter franchise is a blockbuster across all forms of entertainment. You have the books that started it all, the big-budget films, and naturally, you have tie-in videogames that go with them.

With the first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows hitting screens at the end of last week, we thought this would be an excellent time to run a quiz based on Harry, Ron, Hermione and the gang. Unfortunately, we did that already back in June [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101692-A-Pair-of-Harry-Potter-Quizzes]. So, we here at Chez Escape put on our Sorting/Thinking Hats, until we figured it out - a quiz about the Harry Potter games, of course!

Merely reading Hogwarts: A History cover to cover won't be enough to get you through this quiz - you'll need to know about all the games in the franchise. Barring that, you'll simply need to have a good sense of deductive reasoning, or maybe a spot of luck (might I recommend a draught of Felix Felicis?)

If you think you're ready to take this quiz equivalent of your NEWTs, then test your luck and try our quiz here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/quizzes/view/123]!)

It hit shelves a couple of years ago. It hit screens last week.
Unless...
is the dvd out already?

Wow, 10/10 this quiz brings back memories of my past. I don't know whether to feel accomplished or ashamed of being a harry potter fan.

The Game Boy Color games were decent RPGs, iirc.

That's all I recall about the games, really.

I'm fairly sure the SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER (I don't know how to tag) SPOILER SPOILER

Marauder's Map was introduced as a gameplay mechanic in the third one.

5/10

I'm angered at this quiz: I have read and enjoyed the saga, but haven't (and probably never will) see most of the movies or play most of the games.

I wanted to see how much I knew on Harry Potter, not to see the names of the Harry Potter game's I'm probably never going to play.

You scored 0%, with 0 of 10 correct!

You're currently ranked 901st out of 902 total entries.
I've failed epically although I'm rather curious how someone could do worse than me >.>

So, gotta say, as much as I was thrilled to see a quiz on the HP games, having played almost all the non-redundant incarnations of all of them, except the DH ones, there were a couple problems with the quiz. Firstly, and this is more an opinion than anything else, but the most sorely lacking feature of Goblet of Fire was the lack of a Hogwarts to explore - you just chose levels to play from a very standard level select screen. Very disappointing, because I could spend hours traipsing through Hogwarts in the GBA/GBC gamesBut more factually, HBP was NOT the first game to use the Maruader's Map as a mechanic - that was Order of the Phoenix (in almost exactly the same way). Still, I should have chosen that one, and not invisibility cloak the first time around, I was just being stupid... but still - it's disappointing to have an inaccurate quiz.

Oh, and that Chamber of Secrets GBC game? It's EXCELLENT. FF3 style mechanics with lush pixels, solid music, a giant castle, tons of sidequests, and a huge amount of minigames, including a surprisingly fun bowling game (using ghost heads - not entirely sure how Harry can hold noncorporeal objects, but whatevs). If you can track down a copy of it or even a rom, it's definitely the worth the five bucks/guilt on your conscience.

Lastly - I'M NUMBER ONE (for now)! I'M NUMBER ONE (for now)!

4/10. That one about 'cover based shooting' was hilarious guys!
I must ask, who in this forum would play a movie based game, especially Harry Potter?!?!?!? Although some of them are quite decent.
