Dark Knight Rises Will Not Feature CGI-Enhanced Heath Ledger

Christopher Nolan has denied rumors that Heath Ledger will make an appearance in his third Batman film.

A recent rumor [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/105745-Heath-Ledger-Might-Appear-in-Next-Batman-Movie] said that Christoper Nolan planned to feature Heath Ledger in Dark Knight Rises, his third and final Batman film, but this has turned out to be false. Nolan himself told the Hollywood Reporter that it simply isn't going to happen.

The rumor, which came from a "source close to Nolan," said that the director was going to pay homage to Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker in Rises by cutting together already filmed scenes of the deceased actor and enhancing them with CGI. The source did say that it was only going to be a "fleeting moment," but apparently that moment was just a fabrication.

In a chat with HR's Heat Vision, Nolan and wife/producing partner Emma Thomas said they'd heard of the rumor, and that they're "not doing that." They denied any appearance by Ledger in Rises, and said that the movie's script isn't even finished yet. Ultimately, Nolan is sticking to his The Dark Knight [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101135-Joker-Wont-Return-in-Nolans-Batman-Films].

Though it would have been interesting to see how Nolan incorporated footage of Ledger into Dark Knight Rises in the described way, which didn't sound all that disrespectful, it's totally understandable to want the film to stand alone. Not only that, but if Nolan was uncomfortable even talking about Ledger previously, I don't know how he would be able to cut together footage of him and enhance it with CGI. It seems like an unnecessary proposition when Nolan wants to move on to new possibilities [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/105427-Rumor-Inception-Co-Star-is-Hugo-Strange-in-Dark-Knight-Rises].

Well of course that rumour was false! No one should have believed Ledger would be CGI'd into Batman 3, especially if you take into account the fact that Nolan and Ledger were fairly close.

I sure as hell wouldn't CGI a late acquaintance or friend of mine into a film...that would be in pretty poor taste.

On one hand it would be awesome to see the Heath Ledgers Joker in Nolans Thrid Batman Movie.
But it would be slight disrespect to Ledgers memory with him being simply copied and pasted into a new movie.

If it did go through imagine if other studios decided to stick other dead actors in movies. I have always wanted to see a new Naked Gun.

Not to mention a bit creepy considering how much time they would have to sit at the computer staring at him while they worked on it.

i dont want to see it, keep the joker to that one movie, bring back scare crow I like him :D

AND please have an awsome riddler as your villian. The riddler is the greatest villian in comic bookery, imho. I absolutly love a guy who mentally beats batman one on one. He fun and awsome. His potrayal in gotham sirens is great as well.
Wasn't the riddler denounced as a bad guy in the third?

Not happening, probably for the best as well, as we've already had Joker (I really like Riddler too though). I'm interested in who the villain could be though, since Gotham will be in a state of chaos. Would make sense for Catwoman to be in there I think.

I honestly thought this was a great idea presumably it would show the Joker in a padded cell in arkulm with a worried nurse Harley standing over him(foreshadowing?)

I'm glad to hear this rumour is false. It didn't sound like something Nolan would want to do. Not after his earlier comments about how Ledger's death was very personal to him and he wanted to honour his memory by not bringing The Joker back for TDKR.

I think that to include Heath Ledger in the third film in any way would have been disrespectful to his memory and I'm glad to hear it's false.

Whatever else happens, I hope the third film is a fitting conclusion to the series.
