Resident Evil 5 Sells 5 Million, Soundtrack Released

Capcom is celebrating the monumental sales of Resident Evil 5 -- 5 million and counting -- with the release of the game's soundtrack.

While the game is known better for its tense atmosphere and gorgeous visuals, the audio accompaniment found in Capcom's latest survival horror opus is magnificent.

It should be seen as an accomplishment that most players don't even notice the game's tunes on first play, instead reporting that the background accompaniment simply melds into the world, upping the tension and setting hearts racing amid frenetic firefights.

the firm announced the game's impressive sales landmark [http://www.capcom-unity.com/s-kill/blog/2009/05/26/resident_evil_5_sountrack_also_on_sale].

The 3-disc set, composed by Kota Suzuki, can be purchased for $10 from online retailer Sumthing Digital [https://www.sumthingdigital.com/AlbumDetails.aspx?albumid=4136], or you can opt to snag single tracks for $.99 each.

Despite playing through the game.... probs around 12 times.... I can't think of a single piece of music from it.

Congrates to Capcom, but what I don't understand is why we have to pay $10 for music we already bought on the game disc.

Replace the word "music" with "multiplayer content", and we got the whole fiansco again, hehe.

Exactly, there's got to be some way to rip the audio files straight from the disc.

Erm, this is hardly a new thing. I can find the soundtrack for lots of games on sale. Heck, I have the Halo 3 soundtrack on disc.

Is this big news for some reason?

Yep. I was just trying to stretch myself to remember one track. Then I just remembered great quotes such as:

Jill: "Millions of people will die"
Chris: "Yeah but.." Ha.

I know!

Since this topic was made, I've been thinking hard on tracks from the game. I really can't think of some, I mean sure, theres ambient music, but you barely notice it. I can't see how a CD will be successful. But good luck to em.

For reference, 'Winds of Madness' is the orchestral boss music that plays in the pre-final Wesker battle, 'Two on Two' is the boss music for the battle between Chris, Sheva, Wesker, and Jill, 'Pray' is the main theme song of Resi 5 that plays in the opening sequence, and 'Deep Ambition' appears to be Wesker's noncombat theme.

More examples of Resi 5 songs can be found on YouTube, and that said, I'm looking forward to this new release and I may end up buying it.

Five million... is that a lot these days? I figure it'd have to sell like twice as many as that before you could consider this a big deal...

Hasn't Wii fit sold like 20 odd million already?
