News Report on Kinect Sex Hack Could Arouse Parents' Fears

Can little Jimmy use Kinect to play a sex simulation on his Xbox 360? No, but you wouldn't know it from this news report from a CNN affiliate in El Paso, Texas.

Whether sex games that utilize the Kinect [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/106259-Microsoft-Ready-to-Crush-Kinect-Porn-Game] already exist. However, due to the nature of the software hack, it's something that could only ever happen on the PC, not the Kinect's native Xbox 360.

That's just one of the many, many things wrong with this news story [http://www.kfoxtv.com/news/26282032/detail.html] posted by an El Paso, Texas CNN affiliate. In it, five-year-old Edwin Valverde was given an "xBox 360 [sic]" and Kinect for Christmas, only for his parents to discover videos of the Thrixxx hack online.

"It's inappropriate, especially when these games are geared towards younger children," says Edwin's mom Angelica. "You see the commercials on the Disney channel on [sic] Nickelodeon of course they're going to want them." That is, of course, assuming that the Thrixxx game was ever advertised on networks primarily angled at young children. Which is assuming that it actually saw mass market release, which is assuming it wouldn't have an AO rating, which is assuming that Microsoft gave it the thumbs-up in the first place.

And that's assuming that the kid's parents actually bought it for him.

Though the article is filled with inaccuracies and plain ol' misinformation, one of the most salient - and genuinely true - points was made to that effect by Martin Valverde, Edwin's grandfather. "It all depends on the adult in the room, parental control is No. 1."

I agree, Mr. Valverde. That's a great point - it's too bad that all most people read of the story will be the headline about the Kinect sex game existing.

Update: We originally reported that KFox was a Fox News affiliate. It is actually owned by CNN.

is what I saw on the home page. I snickered immaturely.

Good article. Glad to see at least the grandfather has some common sense.

Yeah. That's a pretty crappy news organization. But sensationalism is hard to kill because a lot of people prefer to believe the worst as it's more exciting that way.

Most inappropiate use of the word 'arouse' in news headline goes to Fox!

OH GOD, WON"T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN...

I love how much they're trying to scare parents, it's not like this game is ever going to be released and if it is, it will be a very small release where only maybe a few hundred people get it.

Ahhh don't worry about it. What's the worst that could happen?

I saw this when I clicked on the link and my first thought was, "well, isnt that like saying drinking water will make you less thirsty?"

Though I found it immensely funny that the grandfather agreed its up to the parents to watch their kids. That made me smile a little.

I dunno, Frank Zappa made an interesting point about repressed sexual urges when he commented on Tipper Gore's finding obscenity in his lyrics when none was intended (nor could be taken as such by any reasonable mind).

I can't help but wonder if those Helen Lovejoy types are secretly into some forms of BDSM that would make me blush.

EDIT: Just a thought, but did Bill Gates piss in Rupert Murdoch's Cheerios? Because it sure seems like Fox News goes after the XBox specifically an awful lot. You never hear anything about the PlayStation 3 or the Wii on Fox News.

Thank you, Mr. Funk. I had a very long rant to out, but honestly, you summed up everything I was going to say right in this part.

Still, it's nice to see that Fox News isn't even TRYING to hide the fact that they want to ruin the images of videogames. No more twisting words or half-truths, they've now begun to resort to plain ol' MAKING SHIT UP. I mean, Nickelodeon and Disney airing commercials for a hacked PC Kinect game that isn't even for sale? And aimed for kids? Good God, why don't they just say it was made by terrorists hired by Satan while they're at it?

Great job FOX, real quatlity reporting. And any "kid" who actualy found a sex game fun has more issues than the game.

I think she means the 360 was advertised - not the game - and obviously seems to think that any game that comes with it would then only be for kids.

Dumb, yes, but I think you misinterpreted her (kind of like how people call stuff the Sony Wii, they often seem to use 'console' and 'games' as synonyms for one another).

Because they think they're all made by the same company, most likely.

You know, I hope these parents never find out what kind of adult content ends up on DVD. Kids have access to DVD players after all. Oh wait, you mean they only care about games? Of course. How silly of me.
They already found their parents hidden porn dvd stash anyway. So who cares.
The remark of the grandfather made me feel all hope is not lost yet.

This game (if it ever saw the light of day) would be advertised on nick and disney channel just like games like gears of war , lost planet , fear . alone in the dark etc.

Terrorists hired by Satan to help Barack Obama and the Jew socialist progressive-run media take over 'merica and kill our freedoms.

I'm curious where the mother saw these so-called 'commercials on the Disney channel and Nickelodeon'? Perhaps it is some sort of code for something a little more...taboo? You decide!
