Question of the Day, January 4, 2011

Yesterday we reported that DICE's upcoming Battlefield 3 would ditching the venerable Windows XP [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/106591-Battlefield-3-Relieving-Windows-XP-From-Duty]. What are you running on your computer right now?

The family computer, which I'm on right now, runs Vista.

My labtop runs Windows 7.

I love 7...Once I tweaked with Control Panel for 15 minutes.

Windows XP

Unless I decide to pirate W7, that's not likely to change any time soon. I can't afford a new OS, or at the very least there's not much to make me want to waste money on it.

XP at home (Still the best, but will probably be getting 7 as I am starting PC gaming)
Vista on my parents PC
7 at work

I'm an IT Technician, and I still think XP is the most reliable

I'm using Vista. It came with my Laptop, and it hasn't been annoying enough to justify buying a copy of XP/7. If I still have a job this summer I may put aside some money to build a new computer and if that is the case then I will probably take the opportunity to upgrade to 7.

I've got Vista, and it works just fine for me right now. :)

Windows 7 on desktop and laptop, 64-bit on desktop and 32-bit on laptop. Also have Linux Mint installed on my desktop, which I like to use every once in a while.

Right now... I'm on the laptop, which is Windows 7. The PC that I use to play games (that is, on the rare occasion it decides to work properly) is Vista.

Windows 7 32-bit Home PC
Windows 7 32-bit Other Home PC
Windows 7 32-bit Work Laptop
Windows XP SP2 Work Laptop
Windows XP SP3 Work Laptop
Suse 11.2 (Linux) Personal Laptop

I am software Dev / Tech and I must say I much prefer 7 and Linux to the rest. XP is good for when it was out, but its become dated.

Windows 7 for the games, Ubuntu Studio for my other works...

If, however, there would be a magical miracle by which WINE would be able to run virtually any game you throw at it without massive patches and tweaks, then I can finally consider ditching windows forever...

Pah, I am saddened that my OS, the venerable DEATHBOT 3000, is not on the list...
So I shall just vote for "Other"...
Unless you mean what OS I am running on, which is Windows 98. My computer uses DEATHBOT 3000.

Kubuntu on my primary, cuz my ole XP system suddenly decided to go all 0x7F on me, and I haven't gotten around to backuping all my saves yet. Will be installing a Win7 when I'm bored enough and desperate enough for gaming.

Dual with Win7 and Kubuntu on my netbook. Using the Linux for when I hafta work. It's all done via terminals anyways, so I might as well go native when doing it.

At work it varies between Debian, Ubuntu, XP, Vista and Win7, depending on which box I'm at.
Oh, nearly forgot, there's a Win2008 Server as well.

As I said in the BF:BC thread, I will stop running XP the day after it becomes impossible to continue doing so.

Just got a new laptop so running Windows 7 but before this I was running a PC which I downgraded to XP from Vista. That OS is some next level garbage.
