Necromachina Gets Delayed, Plus Boring Name

Square Enix wants you to know that Moon Diver is just as cool a name as Necromachina.

Bad news, action fans. Square Enix's upcoming action-adventure, <a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_Diver>Necromachina is being delayed by the publisher until this Spring, which is unsurprising since the game was originally scheduled to be released in 2010. Not only that, but the title is being released under its original name.

According to "Shiina" (no last name given), the assistant producer with the Takehiro Ando team:

"We'll change the title; 'Necromachina' to 'Moon Diver.'(same as Japanese title)
It is because we believe 'Moon Diver' is as cool as 'Necromachina' and much easier to be understood worldwide.

Next, we rescheduled its release date.
It's originally set in 2010 but is now scheduled for release in spring 2011.

Square Enix hasn't provided any release date info more definite than this. Personally, I disagree with Shiina. I think Necromachina sounds a lot cooler than Moon Diver, especially for a game that sounds like it's a somewhat nihilistic, post-apocalyptic side-scrolling action adventure with elements of <a href=http://www.amazon.com/Faust-Tragedy-Norton-Critical-Editions/dp/0393972828/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1294369313&sr=8-1>Faust thrown in.

I have no idea what this game is about, but I'd be more willing to buy Necromachina because that sounds awesome. Also, isn't a little late to tell people that it's delayed. I assume most fans have figured out that the game wasn't released in the past 6 days.

How exactly is Moon Diver any easier to understand than Necromachina? When I hear Moon Diver, I imagine the game has something to with space. Perhaps involving falling and the effects of low gravity. I haven't heard of this game until now, but if it's a "nihilistic, post-apocalyptic side-scrolling action adventure with elements of Faust thrown in" like you said, then how is Moon Diver an appropriate name? Maybe Necromachina isn't either but at least it does sound better.

That fact that Square Enix is associated with it kind of drives me away. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a new release with their logo on it.

Necromachina sounds, well, put bluntly, more awesome. I clicked this thread because it had 'Necromachina' in its name. If it had said 'Moon Diver' I wouldn't have batted an eyelid. And it's going to be the same with the game now.

Like many others, I have no idea what this game is about beyond what this thread tells me.

But I would certainly consider buying it if it were called Necromachina. That does sound awesome.

LoL...Moon Diver sounds like some crummy iPhone game for children. Either that, or hardcore porn.

I call this corporate bullshit, it's Sqare-Enix we're talking about. This isn't the first time japanese wanted to change a name they couldn't appropiately spell.

Moon Diver = FAIL / Necromachina = EPIC WIN

In other news: Square Enix also plans to change the main character from a white haired pretty boy to a emo who listend to too much MCR.

Moon Diver. Totally better. Like going from Devil May Cry to DMC.

Ever since I first saw this I've been wanting to play it. I guess I can hold out until spring. That said Moon Diver is far less cool than Necromachina, CHANGE IT BACK!

Necromachina is WAY cooler than Moon Diver.

Former conjurs an image of a great and terrible robot that lives on the death of others.
Latter sounds like a BBC2 film about princesses and frogs.

Much easier to understand that the game is made by somebloke who barely even speaks engrish. Necromachina ftw, Moon Diver ftl.

The new name is not as good. It sounds to me like LRR's underground orbital moonbase fell in the ocean.

IMO both those names are terrible.
However, Necromachina has that "this game is called Necromachina, how can it not be at least silly fun?" appeal. Moon Diver sounds really boring.

We all know that Necromachina is cooler than Moon Diver, but what other names are cooler than Moon Diver that could be used instead?

My suggestion is "Midnight Diver".

Also for those who don't know what the game is about, watch the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iA0r9E46IGU
